Barrhead Cares Community Coalition Guiding Principals

Reducing Barriers
As a Coalition we can determine where services are needed and work together to improve access.

Working together increases our resources and allows us to address issues that affect our

Strength Based
We recognize and appreciate that everyone has something valuable to contribute to the wellbeing of our community. Therefore, we invite
participation from all community members, groups or agencies.

When needs or problems exist, we can act quickly with a coordinated response.

Barrhead Cares started as The Barrhead and District Drug Coalition in 2003. At that time several community organizations came together to address the problems associated with the harmful effects of alcohol and drug use. Since 2003 the Coalition has sponsored and coordinated Community Awareness Campaigns, Youth Prevention Programs and worked with the community to increase services for those who are affected by drug use.
In 2012 we changed our name to Barrhead Cares to better reflect the growing mandate of the group. Today we continue to address the harmful impact of drug and alcohol use on our community. In addition, we are taking the initiative to deal with bullying, abuse and the overall health and safety of people living in the Barrhead Area.
