Healthy Families Healthy Futures is looking for a temporary, part-time (1 year, maternity leave coverage) Thrive Outreach Mentor for the community of Athabasca, AB.
The Outreach Mentor provides advocacy, intervention, prevention, education, and training to address relationship abuse – intimate partner abuse, family violence, or elder abuse.

Responsibilities are to:
• Ensure victims of relationship abuse receive sensitive care and emotional support needed to restore health and well-being
• Effectively engage with high-risk individuals and their families to build strong working relationships
• Perform initial screening, risk and safety assessment, and safety planning with client
• Set goals with the client and provide support to achieve said goals
• Transport clients to approved appointments and other organizations
• Develop and maintain good relationships with support networks and other agencies
• Present educational information to the general public
• Take an active role in community engagement

You need:
• The ability to meet with individuals and discuss extremely sensitive and confidential issues
• A direct, honest, and nonjudgmental manner
• Experience in working with people who are experiencing family violence
• A Diploma in the Human Services Sector or relevant experience will be considered
• Strong organizational and time management skills necessary for working independently
• Strong written and verbal skills
• A reliable vehicle and clear Driver’s Abstract
• A Criminal Record Check and a Child Intervention Check
• Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and web-based data bases
