About Me:
A outdoors writer always seeking adventure.
Hello everyone, I am seeking any off-season care taker position (Especially in remote areas) to act as security for your facilities during your slow periods. Bare amenities are fine, out house, wood stove, running to the creek and back for water is okay too.
Please forgive me for the length of this advertisement I did try; you will see that it is in my nature, and as I write for a living.
I seek remote wilderness work, a caretaker job to write, and I have several years experience doing this. I mostly write about outdoor living, along with political satire. I can possibly trade my skills to write an article for your business too. Any way, this is why I prefer remote places. My articles are written for several blog pages online, although I do require Internet for, my uploading, it is a wonderfully modern world, and I am sure this can be worked out somehow.
I am quiet, and have references from previous caretaker position, for those that are interested, but first some few key points about myself, no sense starting something neither one of us wants.
I am a grey haired 53 year old with probably to many life experiences to bother you with for now. I do not know your beliefs or politics so I will try, and spell out the high points of mine, just to get them out of the way.
Compatibility is paramount before we proceed, and by politics, I actually mean core beliefs. Politicians are crooks, and that is all I need to say about that.
I am spiritual, possibly agnostic, but not religious as far as I know. My knowledge of GOD I got from the woods. I was born in Massachusetts, in 1963, by a Canadian Father and an American Mother.
Who, at age eleven moved back to Canada in 1974, a dual citizen with paperwork to prove it. This is where I grew up during my teenage years. I lived rurally, about twenty-five miles outside of town. There was no paper routes for me as a boy, I trapped beaver, mink and muskrats for money, and have hunted since the age of 12. I still prefer wild game whenever I can get it.
I am telling you this in case you do not agree with my past lifestyle.
Today, as I did back then, I believe in living off of the land as much as possible, and never to take more then the land can handle. I believe in sustainable living. One could say I am a neo-conservationist, all though I am not sure that is even the correct term for it. I am one who still beliefs man can harvest without upsetting the ecosystem.
I moved west to Alberta September 1980, and became a carpenter in Calgary for 13 years, I built every thing from log homes, to stick framed houses and much sub-contract work; framing, roofing, dry walling, cabinet making, and more. When ever possible I explored the back woods of the Rockies. (Fishing, Hunting, Camping whatever)
I entered the Alberta oil patch as a negotiator in the oil industry; we were called Landmen back in those days, now the PC term is Land Agent. Landmen are theoretically the impartial third party people who negotiate Surface and Mineral rights for the oil industry, “Or the Devil to some people.”
I spent nearly twenty years in the business, until my divorce in 2010. I guess I was a good businessman, a fairly, good father, but a terrible husband. I moved to British Columbia after where I live today.
Now to be brutally honest (I mention this next part, in case you need some light maintenance work done around your facility.)
I have knowledge and know-how required of a seasoned carpenter, but I will admit I am woefully out of shape for things such as log building. Oh, it is nothing serious (I am sure I am very healthy for someone my age) it is just 13 years of beating my body up and twenty years of neglect while living off of farmers-wives coffee cake and bad restaurant food is hard on a guy. This is probably why I became a writer.
I am extremely experienced in all building trades. All though I may need a minute or two to drag them up from my failing memory, it has been years since I have used it.
Now that that is out of the way:
I wish to clear the air for everyone regarding personalities; I do not tolerate people who cannot occasionally have a drink or two in the evening. I am of Irish decent on my grand mothers side, and feel you cannot trust teetotalers…
ON occasions I enjoy making my own beer, or wine, and I commune with nature in the evenings after work when ever I can, most often watching the sun go down with a glass in my hand. I write about making these spirits too when I feel the urge, people enjoy that.
I belief it is part of being alive, and it seems to be the way of every decent writer; as history has proven many times in our past.
If none of this is an issue for you or your families, perhaps you can tell me something about your needs for using a person such as myself watching over your facilities perhaps during the off seasons or maybe make me an offer, I am very reasonable.
I keep to myself if you prefer, and know what is my own business too.
