This is a antique Colt model 1877 Double Action Revolver also known as the Thunderer. These revolvers were produced from 1877 to 1909 with this item being made in 1878. This has a 6 shot fluted cylinder chambered in .41 long colt. This has a 4-1/2” barrel with an ejector. This item has around 20% original finish left with pitting found on the cylinder. The grips are in good condition with minimal handling dings and the right grips has worn smooth. This is not a numbers matching gun. Mechanically in excellent condition in both single and double action. All 4 hammer clicks being strong. The Colt Model 1877 was Colt’s first commercial double action success and gave many notorious outlaws an edge when it came to pistols. The Colt model 1877 was known to be carried by notorious outlaws such as William H. Bonney A.K.A. Billy The Kid and John Wesley Hardin.
