Ad Title: J.P. Clabrough & Bros, Double Barrel with hammers, 10GA – For Restoration
Make : J. P. Clabrough & Bros (London & Birmingham)
Model: N/A
Serial Number: 56
Type of action: Double Barrel Break Action
Barrel length: 32 inches
Caliber: 10GA
Note: J.P. Clabrough changed his business name to “J. P. Clabrough & Bros” in 1868. This shotgun dates from the 1870’s period since it does not use the rebounding hammers. The serial number is also very low which corresponds to the right period. In perfect condition, this shotgun would be outstanding and with a high value. The condition is not too bad and could be restored. The story of J.P. Clabrough can be found on internet in an article by “Shooting Sportsman”.
Condition: Bad overall condition. The stock is a bad replacement and is broken. The tip of the forend is missing. Both hammers are original to the gun and in good working order. The bores of the barrels are not too bad with a little bit of corrosion. The action is very tight (too tight and would need adjustment). The butt plate is also original to the gun.
