Our client has been serving north eastern Alberta as a wireless communications provider for over 30 years Along with providing exceptional services and equipment to their customers, our client prides themselves in their ethical and safety practices.

Position Summary

This position’s main responsibility is to program, install, test, troubleshoot and repair communications equipment, such as two-way radio and wireless communication at the repair centre and job-site. Service Technicians who are certified for tower work will also erect towers and install antennas and cabling at heights over 3 metres. The individual filling this role must be comfortable working in a team environment. This position is classified as full-time regular and is located in Fort Hills, Alberta through a fly in fly out customer sponsored program from either Edmonton or Calgary. This position is a 7 day in, 7 day out 12 hour per shift rotational schedule with a day and night rotation.


• Diploma or Certificate in Electronics Engineering Technology/Technician or suitable combination of education and experience
• The Following certifications (an asset), training may be provided for those who do not hold these certifications:
o Electronics Technician Association, International (ETA-I) Associate Level Certification
o Mobile Electronics Certified Professional (MECP) Certificate
o Valid Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certificate, including generic WHMIS Training
o Current Standard First Aid training including Level C CPR (Red Cross, St. Johns Ambulance or Heart and Stroke)
o H2S Alive (OSSA accredited)
o Aerial Work Platform (OSSA accredited)
o Tower Climbing and Rescue certificate considered an asset
o Confined Space Entry Training certificate (OSSA accredited)
o Fall Protection (OSSA accredited)
o ATV Training (OSSA Accredited)
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work requirements (OH&S)
• Knowledge of hand and power tools, test equipment and design/fabrication techniques
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s License (GDL not acceptable) or equivalent (recent Driver’s Abstract will be required upon condition of employment)

• Testing by means of watt meter, multimeter, antenna diagnostics, DTF, basic service monitor use, modulation, channel bandwidths and signal levels
• Install wireless communications equipment in stationary and mobile applications including light, medium & heavy-duty vehicles and equipment
• Basic diagnostics
• Radio programming
• Reading and understanding of engineering drawings/documents
• Adherence to all safety policies and procedures
• Demonstrate professionalism & acts as ambassador of our client
• Install, maintain, and repair SmartNet/SmartZone trunked radio systems, Conventional radio systems, MotoTRBO radio systems, TDM multiplexing equipment including T1 applications and wired/wireless LAN and WAN data networks
• Program Conventional/MotoTRBO/Trunking mobile and portable radio equipment
• Install, maintain, and repair of broadband satellite systems
• Install, maintain, and tune antenna multi-coupler systems, duplexers and transmit combiners
• Accurately record time and materials on service orders for all assigned work using NetSuite operations and procedures pertaining to the Technical Services Department
• Complete accurate Labour, Equipment and Material forms (LEM’s) and Job Hazard Assessments (JHA’s)
• Complete required inspection sheets (Vehicle)
• Assist, guide, and mentor employees and/or trainees
• Participate in travel, overtime, and on-call duties as required
