Rare 12 Gauge Side Hammer Muzzleloader Shotgun$500.00

Being sold on consignment by Vulcan Gun Refinishing. Here's a rare Shotgun with a very interesting feature that you just don't see. Known as a "Slapper" action, this has a side mounted hammer that swings sideways against a primer to ignite the black powder. It appears to be mostly handmade but with modified Remington shotgun barrels. It comes with two 30 inch and one 26 inch barrels. Overall in excellent condition, you can see that all of the metal parts other than the trigger guard and barrel are handmade, as is the stock, which is quite beefy, very well made and in perfect condition with no cracks or dings. The stock has beautiful figuring at the rear part. A cheek riser has been meticulously added as well as a rubber recoil pad. Most of the metal is "in the white" with no blued finish at all but has remained rust free partially due to most of it being shellacked along with the wood. All of the metal has been carefully fitted and other than some stray file marks, looks Factory made. The barrel is not pitted and has been painted a flat black. The trigger guard is from some other type of rifle and although blued, exhibits some fine surface rust. The trigger and hammer operate fine other than the half cock doesn't lock the hammer back and it will fall if the trigger is depressed. Somebody put a ton of work into this one of a kind shotgun and we think this is a bargain. We're selling this as is with no warranty of any kind. More pictures available upon request. $500.00 OBO
