Eight Tiny Buckheads (Kangal/Great Pyrenees)
Here we go again! Charley the Wonder Dog has had another litter. This is only her second litter and her first since 2021... These puppies have been bred to be guardian dogs… Whether that is for your family or your livestock, or both… Is up to you. Charley is our sweet family dog that we love very much. She is Dogo Argentino/Great Pyrenees mix. Her looks are of a Dogo. She is a short haired dog. Charley has an excellent temperament around kids - she very often has a six year old crawling all over her, and she just lays there and loves him…he’s been like this with her all his life. Charley is an amazing athlete. Our eleven year old tells people if they want to know how a cheetah runs, just watch Charley run. When she is full out running, her body is completely stretched and she's touching speeds of 60 km/h (paced with the quad). She is fast, she knows it, and she loves to show it. Charley is also an excellent watchdog…her bark and size are very menacing, although it stops there. I think the only way she would ever attack anyone is if they were attacking one of us or harming the boys in some way. She just doesn't have the temperament to attack someone - she'd sooner they rub her belly, but that doesn't mean she's not scary looking to bad guys (and girls). Charley also protects our livestock from the local wildlife - even jumping at trees to flush out ravens lying in wait for one of our chickens! Charley has never attacked one of our animals either - she's smart enough to know better. Charley is sturdy in the Alberta winter - her Great Pyrenees spirit keeps her strong in the cold. Charley is an excellent hunter - she is the first dog we've had that we know if humanity ceased to exist, Charley would not... Charley was remarkably easy to train, although she does have a very independent spirit. There may have been some moments of an insolent puppy who does what she wants, but that was quickly grown out of when the desiccated liver treats showed up as training incentives. We're on 160 acres, and Charley has the run of the ranch, but when she is called, she comes immediately...in her fully stretched out, 60 km/h run. Her loyalty to and love for us is clear with this giant sweetie. And speaking of giant sweeties… Buck, the sire of the litter, is a gentle giant and a purebred Turkish Kangal Shepherd Dog. Also known as the Anatolian, this breed is the undisputed king of the canine world when it comes to raw power… Bad guys and predators both run when they see a Kangal staring them down. The Kangal is alert, sensitive, independent, calm, and self-controlled. The Kangal is not only excellent with children, they are also very protective of them and their families. They are fiercely loyal and loving dogs. When we visit Buck the only thing we worry about is getting stopped in our tracks so we’ll pet him… He loves to interrupt our walk across the yard to remind you that he likes a good head rub… Buck is also a predator killer. Coyotes are child’s play…wolves are starting to be a challenge, but a bear or a cougar are more “fun” for Buck. With a biting pressure of 743 psi, once a predator is in a Kangal’s grip, it’s only a matter of time before it meets its end. If you are a rancher or farmer and are looking for a guardian dog (or two is better), you just found them. If you are living in the city and are looking for a protective, loyal, calm companion, you just found one. The puppies were born on December 5th, and we prefer to keep them for 12 weeks before they leave. They learn many important things in that time from their momma, so it is important to keep them in the litter for that amount of time. We are not a puppy mill and are not in any rush to get these puppies into your home! We love every single one of them and if we could keep them all we would. They are fat little cuties and are doing great, still nursing only at this time. At four weeks, the puppies will have solid food introduced to them - we will be using Nutrience Grain Free Puppy Food. We will also be adding raw milk, raw eggs, and liver into their diets as they grow…these puppies will have the foundation for you and your family to build upon… These first weeks are so very important to their healthy development, and we take them very seriously. The puppies have had Bio-Sensory Training, also known as Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)… This makes the puppies easier to train, live healthier lives, and have a greater life expectancy than puppies not exposed to ENS. We are doing everything to make these puppies your dream dog… Do people have dream dogs? We do, and now you can too… Feel free to contact us to make arrangements to see the puppies, but don’t wait…these ones will go fast!

Bernese Mountain puppies X Great Pyrenees
Meet our beautiful family of puppies! Five girls; Bella, Ariel, Casey, Luna, and Scarlett. Two boys; Janner and Mario. Looking for their forever homes starting on July 11th, they will all come vet checked, de-wormed, with their first set of vaccinations. They also come with complimentary puppy insurance for the first six weeks at home that covers up to $750 in vet fees from Breed Secure in the event of accidents or illness. Born on May 9th, our puppies are all healthy and happy, and they have been socializing and introduced to a wide variety of animals. Their mom is a Bernese Mountain Dog x with Great Pyrenees and she is a loving, gentle giant. Their dad is Bernese Mountain Dog x Great Pyrenees and he also has some Australian Shepherd and Border Collie in his DNA. He is working as our LGD and does an amazing job, even with poultry. The puppies all have amazing personalities and play well with each other and children. They are wonderful around people, and love adventure. Each puppy will go home with a certificate of health from the vet, puppy pack, a blanket that smells like mom, and a small bag of puppy food. For more videos and updates on the puppies check out our FB account @ J&C Block Roots Farmstead. We know that these puppies will make an amazing addition to your life and they will be a bright spot in your day like they are in ours. More about Bernese Mountain Dogs; Bernese mountain dogs have a good-natured personality. They have a gentle nature and are eager to please, which can make them excellent house dogs. With proper socialization, they are open to meeting strangers and are quite affectionate with their families. Bernese can make great watchdogs. Available for adoption after July 4th, we can deliver them anywhere from Calgary to Edmonton. If we are delivering them to Calgary or Edmonton it will be $500 to reserve a puppy with the remaining 1000 due at delivery, or if you come to see them (we can arrange to meet up in Slave Lake) the whole amount can be paid then if you adopt one.
