Important Notice

By using TownPost's ordering and shipping features, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

TownPost's Escrow Service

TownPost acts as an escrow service to protect both buyers and sellers in shipping transactions. We hold payments securely and release them only after confirmed delivery. However, we are not responsible for:

  • The actual shipping, handling, or packaging of items
  • Physical damage to items during transit
  • Items lost by shipping carriers
  • The quality, condition, or authenticity of shipped items
  • Shipping delays caused by carriers
  • Disputes over item condition upon delivery

Payment Protection & Guarantees

Payment Protection: TownPost's escrow service protects against payment fraud and non-delivery.

We hold buyer payments securely and only release them to sellers after confirmed delivery through tracking or buyer confirmation.

Physical Delivery: While we protect against non-delivery, we cannot guarantee the physical condition of items.

Items may still be damaged during transit. Our escrow service covers payment fraud, not physical damage.

Fees & Payment Processing

TownPost charges the following fees, automatically deducted from seller payments upon successful delivery:

  • TownPost service fee: 4% (minimum $5)
  • Stripe processing fee:~ 2.9% + 30 cents

Buyers pay only the item cost plus final shipping cost (as determined by the seller).

Insurance and Protection

TownPost's escrow service is not a replacement for shipment insurance.

Our escrow protects against payment fraud and non-delivery. Shipment insurance protects against physical damage, loss, or theft during transit. We strongly recommend purchasing appropriate shipping insurance through your chosen carrier for valuable items.

Your Responsibilities

As a user of TownPost's ordering system, you are responsible for:

  • Verifying seller credibility and item descriptions
  • Communicating clearly with sellers about shipping expectations
  • Providing accurate shipping addresses
  • Confirming delivery when items arrive
  • Purchasing appropriate insurance for valuable items
  • Understanding the difference between payment protection and shipping insurance
  • Reporting delivery issues promptly to TownPost support

Recommendations for Safe Transactions

  • Meet in person whenever possible for local transactions
  • Use secure payment methods that offer buyer protection
  • Document all communications with sellers
  • Verify item condition before agreeing to shipping
  • Consider using reputable shipping carriers with tracking
  • Purchase insurance for valuable items
  • Be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true

Limitation of Liability

While TownPost provides payment protection through our escrow service, we expressly disclaim liability for physical damage, loss, or delays during shipping. Our escrow service protects against payment fraud and non-delivery, but does not cover shipping-related damages. Users should purchase appropriate shipping insurance for protection against physical damage or loss.
