Pre-WW1 British Pattern 1821 Canadian Artillery Officer's Sword – no Scabbard Savage and Lyman Montreal Sword This company name was used by the Montreal silversmiths Savage and Lyman between 1868-1878. The left side of the blade immediately in front of the guard Is marked Savage & Lyman Montreal Within the engraving on the left side is a Crown.  Believed to be indicative of Queen Victoria. The right side of the blade has a small brass insert which says PROOF.  Wilkinson Sword introduced these Proof Discs in 1844. In the engraving on the right side of the blade is the word ARTILLERY The guard is steel and has fish skin wire bound grips with most of the fish skin having been worn away.   Length of Sword – 40 1/2” Length of Grip including the Guard – 5 1/2” Blade Length – 34 1/2”   Savage & Lyman Montreal (or Savage & Lyman and Company) were manufacturers and suppliers of swords, known for military pattern swords like those for Canadian militia units (e.g., 1st Battalion Chasseurs Canadiens), marking them as producers/sellers, though like many firms, they likely had blades forged elsewhere (perhaps by specialists like J. Martin in Montreal) and then finished, hilted, proofed, and sold by Savage & Lyman in Montreal, a common practice for armsmakers then.  Key Points: Evidence of Manufacturing: Swords clearly marked "SAVAGE & LYMAN MONTREAL" exist in museum collections, showing they were a recognized name in arms. Role: They functioned as an arms dealer and supplier, customizing and selling weapons for Canadian military and militia. Production vs. Supply: While they might not have forged every single blade from raw steel in-house, they were responsible for the final product, including proofing and adding their own markings, as seen on a 1885 Chasseurs Canadiens sword. This is an early, pre-1893, Belgian-made Swedish model, before Nagant transferred production to Husqvarna. It is in excellent condition throughout, with the original blue intact. The nitre-blue colors on the loading gate spring, hammer and trigger are excellent. The action is crisp and strong, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly, without play. The bore of the 4 1/2 inch barrel is excellent and mirror bright, with sharp rifling and no signs of pitting or wear. The walnut grips are excellent and undamaged, and show only a little wear on the right side. Pre-1893 Belgian proofs, SN 1827, rated excellent overall.

Selling/trading a French MAS 1873 revolver in 11mm French. Overall it's in very nice shape. Antique status, no PAL required, just proof of age. Dated 1877, all visible numbers are matching. Steel is bright and clean with only little signs of light pits here and there. Grips shows well, some light wear on the checkering, very minor. Cal. 30-06. Serial# 4798918. Bbl.24". Marked behind front sight "SC" with a flaming bomb and "10-43." Aperture rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Blade front sight. Swept bolt marked on top of handle "B2" and marking underneath appears as "F." Safety lug is Remington style, as is the bolt shroud. All stamped furniture, including large bow triggerguard and fine checkered trap buttplate. Walnut stock set with two recoil bolts. The grip is marked underneath with encircled "P" proof. Assembly marks are visible ahead of the trigger guard. CONDITION: stock set has a and bruises in its appearance commensurate with extensive service. There are numerous handling marks. The metal retains its original finish with some thinning and wear. Very good, shiny 4-groove bore. also comes with a leather combat sling. Selling/trading a few barrelled actions. These came in with a bulk deal, I do not know the history on them. as follows from top to bottom: 1. Swedish Nitro proofed action, Husqvarna 30-06 barrel. Bluing is in nice shape, shows normal marks and some sort of braze mark on the underside of the barrel. Bore is excellent. Bolt doesn't seem to move forward or back. 3 holes filled on the side of the receiver. Front sight still present and rear base. Bolt is not complete, missing firing pin, safety and cocking mechanism. 2. 1902 Carl Gustaf action, numbers matching barrel assumed to be 6.5x55. Bluing is in nice shape throughout. Front sight present and rear sight base, elevator/ladder is not. Bolt is stuck in place and looks to have a chip out of the rear section. Has a weld on the underside of the action. 3. Swedish Nitro proofed action, Husqvarna 30-06 barrel. Bluing is in nice shape, shows normal marks. Bore is in very nice shape. No bolt. Front sight still present. After handling thousands of shotguns, I only found 2. This is one of the 2. Condition: Good operating condition with rebounding hammers. The barrels have a small degree of oxidation next to the chamber. The Damascus finish is still looking nice. One of the hammers is a nice replacement. Somebody carved a dog and a bird on the right side of the stock. The forend is very nice. The stock was probably made with a select piece of wood to be able to curve the stock.
