A complete example of the relatively rare, .577 calibre, Pattern 1856 British percussion cavalry carbine, this one made in 1861, and Tower marked on the lock. It has the cavalry sling bar and ring, captive ramrod and three leaf, flip-up, rear sight calibrated to 100, 200 and 300 yards. In 1856 the cavalry carbine was authorised by the British government, and was based upon the carbine in service with the East India Company at that time, known in service as the East India Service Pattern.  The bore is shiney and the rifling is crisp, with minimal pitting. The woodwork is in good shape for a 164 year old piece. As is not uncommon with muzzle loaders with captive ramrods there is some chipping to the edge of the ramrod channel in the forestock; see the pictures for this. If picked up locally I will add some period correct.'English' cartridges, with production of a current PAL . I am not looking for trades, unless you have a reproduction Parker Hale Whitworth rifle plus cash difference. No PAL required to own this antique firearm. Thanks for looking.

Here is a Canadian/British origin and the C broad arrow marking), and cross-referencing the images (including the faint stamping that reads “Z.L.&T. LTD 1940” along with the C broad arrow symbol), this is an original Canadian WWII Pattern 1937 (P37) web pistol holster. Features •  Khaki/tan heavy cotton canvas construction, typical of British/Commonwealth web gear from the era to save on leather due to wartime shortages. •  Flap closure with brass snap (often called a “lift-the-dot” fastener in some variants). •  Brass or metal belt hanger and loops on the back for attachment to P37 web belts or pistol belts. •  Angled design for right-side hip carry, with a reinforced muzzle end. •  Markings: “Z.L.&T. LTD 1940” refers to the manufacturer Zephyr Looms & Textiles Ltd. (Toronto, Canada), a known WWII contractor for Canadian military gear. This is an original U.S. military M1916 hip holster designed for the Colt M1911 or M1911A1 .45 ACP pistol, widely issued during World War II (and earlier in WWI). Key Identifying Features •  Embossed “US” in an oval on the flap (standard for U.S. Army-issue holsters). •  Brown leather construction. •  Brass flap stud. •  Belt hook on the reverse. •  Leg tie-down thong (the rawhide or leather lanyard loop at the bottom). This shows honest wear (scuffs, dryness, some cracking, and patina), which is consistent with wartime use rather than a modern reproduction (repros are usually cleaner and often explicitly marked as such).
