The USN let contract NROS 10993 for 190,000 dummy training rifles made after the design of the 1903 Springfield rifle in August of 1942. In January of 1943 the Navy let contract NORD 808 for 110,000 additional training rifles. This is a survivor. Looks to be about 90/95% complete to me with bumps, bruises, two cracks and a chip.
