Howdy Townpost! I have a truly amazing one of a kind piece here for sale. I bought this for myself in the US over a year ago and I had it professionally restored and fully repaired. I am now looking to sell it. John Forbes, of Liverpool, was gunmaker to His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, later King George IV. And according to my research made mostly dueling and target pistols, and some small pocket pistols for only 5 years. Those years being 1805-1810. He spelt his name with I or Iohn and later switched the spelling to a J or John based on public records and some of the other examples of his dueling pistols that have sold at auction. That makes this a very rare and finely made pistol. This pistol would have cost a small fortune at the time it was made. Oftentimes dueling pistols come in pairs but it was cheaper to buy just one if they were offered as a single, and should you encounter someone who has insulted your honor and you demand satisfaction from them, they can bring their own pistol to the duel. The engraving is extremely fine, intricate and skilled. It would have taken many dozens of hours to complete and it was all done by hand. The engraving features drums, banners and spears, floral patterns, sunbursts on the base plate and lock, and a pineapple in the front of the trigger guard, which symbolizes wealth and status. Because this gun is a percussion conversion of the original flintlock mechanism the percussion hammer is engraved in a different style by a different engraver in a more simple floral and fish mouth style of engraving with gold inlay. Every screw is engraved to look like a flower and the escutcheons are also each engraved like a wreath. Overall there is a lot of fine detail with some simpler and less detailed later additions on the percussion mechanism and one spot on the side plate. The gun features gold inlay on the hammer which largely worn away. There is silver inlay on the outside of the breach, and a sterling silver wreath styled band wrapped around the base of the grip and a sliver bead front sight. The ramrod tip (which is a replacement) is silver plated brass, so too are the front stock cap near the muzzle, the rod pipe, cross key, and escutcheon around it are too. The grip baseplate is silver plated steel. The workmanship of this pistol is certainly of a quality of gunmaker worthy enough of being the gun maker of the Prince of Wales. Howdy Townpost. This is a fine English pocket or coat pistol made by Hollis and Sheath company which is the precursor to Hollis and Sons or Isaac Hollis and Sons. Wallace and sheath became Hollis and Sons in 1861 when Isaac Brentnall Sheath left the company to immigrate to Canterbury, Australia and raised sheep and owned coal mines in an area that is now a suburb of Melbourne. His gun making days were behind him, he'd become an industrialist down undah. Sheath & Hollis co-founded the company in 1849 and Sheath stayed with the company until as previously stated, 1861. That dates this firearm between 1849 and 1861. This is a single shot side hammer lock percussion pistol. It's a screw-barrel meaning you unthread the barrel, fill the powder chamber and place a ball on top it. You then use the barrel itself and the threads to seat the ball inside of the breach. Then a percussion cap on the nipple, put it at half cock put it in your dapper overcoat and pull it out should you meet any Scallywags on your travels. The gun is mechanically excellent. The bore condition is very good, there is some minor shallow pitting but overall the rifling is very sharp and clean and shiny. The overall exterior condition of the metal and wood is in excellent shape the diamond checkering are sharp and defined. The powder chamber has only minor pitting as pictured and was cleaned out internally. For a defensive coat pistol, the sights are excellent and easy to pick up and with a rifled bore in good condition I expect this pistol could be fired very accurately. To shoot this gun I would use 3F powder. Both number 10 and 11 caps fit the nipple reasonably well. A 40 caliber lead ball would be ideal as a projectile but you could definitely use .375 caliber balls with a patch no problem in my opinion. I haven't tried it myself though. Have a look at this and turn off barrel pistol with a switchblade bayonet for backup, made by Mr. Nock. You may need it should you encounter any rowdies! In my opinion this is an early Samuel Nock made Circa 1840s pistol. Based on comparable examples I've seen and the style of Engraving and construction of the pistol this appears to be an early production Samuel Nock made pistol. Samuel Nock was the nephew and an apprentice of of the more famous Henry Nock. Samuel knock became a very skilled and renowned gun maker in his own right. Most of his guns would be marked S. Nock but some of his earlier stuff had only his last name. I suspect he was trying to trade on his more famous uncle's name at the time. Overall the pistol is in pretty good condition except for a small hairline crack in the frame (pictured). There is some moderate pitting in the bore however it looks worse in the photo than it actually is. This is a smooth bore pistol and is breech loading so the pitting shouldn't make it difficult to load or shoot. This pistol was intended for point blank range shooting by virtue of the fact that has a stubby little bayonet to use in case you missed your target. The pistol mechanically fine. The trigger and lockwork are all in good working order and the spring loaded bayonet mechanism works perfectly. Howdy there Townpost! I have another custom 12 Gauge delight for you to take a gander at! This is a custom-made one of a kind Ithaca M37 Featherlite put together by my gunsmith for me. As pictured, the overall length is 30 inches long and has a barrel length of 18.5 inches. It weighs 5 lbs, 7oz unloaded, so Featherlight is definitely even more apt than this when this thing was full length. Some fairly extensive work was done. Most notably the barrel and stock were cut down and reshaped the muzzle crown was nicely dressed with file work and reblued and it's nice, smooth and square to the barrel. The original red Ithaca fibreoptic front bead site was reinstalled at the new muzzle. The stock bolt with shortened and a nice decorative cast pewter medallion was added to the butt of the stock to cover up the bolt hole and add very nice piece of decorative flair. And sling swivels were added so this can carried around on sling. The action is very smooth the action release locks up properly, and the spring on it is in good condition. And it slam fires without a problem. What is slam fire you may ask? It means you can hold down the trigger and work the action and every time you close the action with the trigger held down the gun will fire. The gun will fire as fast as you can work the action. So needless to say it's pretty fun to shoot.  This would make an excellent hiking, camping or backpacking shotgun for predator defense in my opinion. Or if she just want a sawed-off shotgun that you can slam fire this is the gun for you. Ithaca started making short versions of the M37 for law enforcement called the Stakeout I believe those were mostly in 20 gauge and they came out sometime in the 70s or '80s. Inland Manufacturing to this day makes something similar to this called the Stakeout II for the US market with an MSRP of $750US. Short versions of the M37 have appeared in a lot of media, probably most notably is the shotgun in the movie Aliens where it's used for "close encounters". There's a well documented cut down Ithaca Featherweight by a Navy SEAL who put a duckbill spreader on it, put a magazine tube extension so that it held 8 and cut the stock off in much the fashion that this one is. This is the easiest and cheapest way to size and lube the bullets as there is no nose punch needed and no special separate press.  You can use your standard single stage press.  Note that Lee no longer includes the ALOX lube in their kits.  Mine have the ALOX lube included.  From the Lee Precision website I stole the following quote: Fastest and easiest way to size cast bullets. Standard 7-8x14" threads fit any single stage reloading press. Bullets are pushed through the sizing die nose first, so no special nose punches are needed. Gas checks are automatically seated and crimped in place. Sized bullets are captured in the special container. Intended for use on single stage presses only. The push through punch is used in place of a shell holder in the ram. To crimp gas checks with the lube and size kit, first lubricate the bullets with liquid alox (sold separately), push a gas check on the base of the bullet and set the bullet on the punch. When the bullet is pushed through the sizing die, the bullet will be sized, and the gas check will be crimped on. For cast bullets, you want to select a sizing kit to be .001" larger than groove diameter. Selling to get some cash flow, this is an antique, all matching and fully operational Smith & Wesson top break double action new model #3 revolver. These were the first double action guns ever made by S&W, driven by demand to increase rapid performance at close quarters while still having the choice to shoot with more accuracy in single action. These were mostly chambered in the popular .44 Russian round. These can be purchased in cowboy loads from myself as part of the deal, found online, or easily reloaded with .44 russian, magnum, or special brass. As an antique, this handgun requires no licensing or registration to buy or own in Canada. Do your own legal research! This gun is serial number 35XXX, dating its manufacture to the late 1880s. As a nearly 140 year old gun, the mechanical condition is strong, with all three positions of the hammer exactly as desired and both single and double action trigger pulls nice and light. Indexing is reliable with a lockup of both the cylinder and the top break hatch having less than 1mm wiggle room. The original hard black grips are still sturdy and nice. The 6 inch barrel on this bad boy still has loads of accurate lead to deliver. Ejector functions perfectly. Visually, the overall look is a peppered patina. Very little of the original nickel remains, with a mottled "in the white" surface being most dominant. No severe or active oxidation can be found. All of the two line address and patent info are clearly visible on the top strap, with the S&W stylized logo featured strongly on the right side. Wind resistance We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable. The goal is to expose each side of our tent to the same wind intensity. When the tent is properly pitched and the guy ropes are in place, it should remain habitable in a force 7 wind, measured at 60 km/h. Waterproofing We test our tents to validate their waterproofing. The first test is done in the laboratory: 4 hours under 200 litres of water/hour/m², the equivalent of a tropical rain shower of 200 mm per hour. The second test is done by our teams in the field under real conditions. This tent is equipped with a polyurethane-coated polyester flysheet with 2000 mm water resistance. It also has seams taped using heat-sealed strips and a 190 g/m² polyethylene groundsheet.
