Winchester Lever Action Repeating Rifle, .38-40 WCF, mfg. 1890. This is a good honest original ‘73 fresh out of a very old local collection. Standard length 24" octagon barrel retains it’s original dovetailed blade front sight and adjustable buckhorn rear. The metal has a mottled dark gray patina overall with some traces of original bluing remaining within protected areas around the sideplates, trigger, and along the dust cover rail. Sharp edges with generally smooth surfaces throughout. Some very light surface oxidation spotting forming toward the muzzle. The stock retains about 40% factory varnish with the balance worn to a pleasing dark untouched patina. Tight wood-to-metal fit with moderate wear overall and a just really honest, unmolested appearance. There is some very minor chipping along the edges of the butt and a super tight old 1" hairline crack at the front left side of the forearm. Original hammer, trigger, lever & locking nut, loading gate, dust cover, buttplate with trapdoor compartment (cleaning rod absent), forend cap, and magazine tube & band. Screws appear to be original. Crystal clear original barrel address, caliber marking, model designation, and serial number "336159" on lower tang. Action is very smooth, crisp, and secure and functions perfectly. Rifling is worn and pitted at the very tip of the muzzle but otherwise the bore shows good rifling overall with moderate/heavy blackpowder frosting and pinprick pitting scattered throughout. A very solid original '73 Winchester with a great Western look..

NOT for SALE - LILJA Warranty reference only. MAY 7, 2024 - Fifth anniversary. News Update; By acquiring a quality bore scope, I was able to see the problem with barrel. The rifling lands in front of the chamber had separated from barrel for about 1.25" and 1 land was protruding into bore. Cut off 2" of barrel chamber end. Machined new barrel end to fit receiver tighter by .002" and rechambered for 22 short only. At range gun shot 1/4" - 5 shot group at 50 yds. shooting CCI 22 short - 27 gr. HP. Seems the rifling is not shot out but can not understand rifling land separation. UNIQUE -- NO WARRANTY or REFUND from LILJA. Call phone or e-mail only. No messages. Classic Mauser-style bolt-action rifle made by Zastava, chambered in .30-06 Springfield. Features a 24" barrel, internal magazine with hinged base plate, hooded front sight and flip-down rear sight.
