A complete example of the relatively rare, .577 calibre, Pattern 1856 British percussion cavalry carbine, this one made in 1861, and Tower marked on the lock. It has the cavalry sling bar and ring, captive ramrod and three leaf, flip-up, rear sight calibrated to 100, 200 and 300 yards. In 1856 the cavalry carbine was authorised by the British government, and was based upon the carbine in service with the East India Company at that time, known in service as the East India Service Pattern.  The bore is shiney and the rifling is crisp, with minimal pitting. The woodwork is in good shape for a 164 year old piece. As is not uncommon with muzzle loaders with captive ramrods there is some chipping to the edge of the ramrod channel in the forestock; see the pictures for this. If picked up locally I will add some period correct.'English' cartridges, with production of a current PAL . I am not looking for trades, unless you have a reproduction Parker Hale Whitworth rifle plus cash difference. No PAL required to own this antique firearm. Thanks for looking.

This is a .22 competition target Vickers rifle made in the 1930s, some time between 1934 and 1939. It is a 44 1/2" long, quite heavy beast with the Vickers signature 'relieved' barrel-to-fore stock mounting, apparently to enhance the accuracy. It utilises the narrow, falling block, Martini-type action. The bore is bright and shiney, with crisp rifling. It has competion-type fore and rear sights. Overall it is in good to excellent shape. The only thing of note is that at some point a previous owner drilled a line of holes underneath the forestock, which have been filled. The images give an idea of the overall condition of the rifle. This is a 1940 Ishapore made No 1 MK111 ( not a MK111*) with mag cutoff and period correct RFI stamped bayonet. The hardware and wood set is good to excellent condition ( for an 84 year old rifle) and as far as I can tell, completely original from the factory. Bolt, receiver, Barrel, rear sight and nose cap are all matching numbers. The magazine isn't matching numbers but is RFI stamped. The bayonet is the short 12 inch "Indian Pattern" which I believe is a 1943 made bayonet. There are some visible repairs to the butt stock, maybe field repairs or post military use - I don't know. I can't make out the markings on the underside of the butt stock but it doesn't appear to be English or Latin script, possibly Punjabi, Bengali or Burmese. The barrel is probably nearing the end of it's life but I have taken this rifle to the range numerous times and it shoots fine with pretty good accuracy at 100 yards. I didn't really want to sell this one as it's a great historical piece, but I need to reduce the amount of Rifles and spare parts I have. PAL required etc - let me know if you have any questions or want more photos. Collection from Summerland BC preferred but shipping/post can be arranged at buyers cost.
