Pre-WW1 British Pattern 1821 Canadian Artillery Officer's Sword – no Scabbard Savage and Lyman Montreal Sword This company name was used by the Montreal silversmiths Savage and Lyman between 1868-1878. The left side of the blade immediately in front of the guard Is marked Savage & Lyman Montreal Within the engraving on the left side is a Crown.  Believed to be indicative of Queen Victoria. The right side of the blade has a small brass insert which says PROOF.  Wilkinson Sword introduced these Proof Discs in 1844. In the engraving on the right side of the blade is the word ARTILLERY The guard is steel and has fish skin wire bound grips with most of the fish skin having been worn away.   Length of Sword – 40 1/2” Length of Grip including the Guard – 5 1/2” Blade Length – 34 1/2”   Savage & Lyman Montreal (or Savage & Lyman and Company) were manufacturers and suppliers of swords, known for military pattern swords like those for Canadian militia units (e.g., 1st Battalion Chasseurs Canadiens), marking them as producers/sellers, though like many firms, they likely had blades forged elsewhere (perhaps by specialists like J. Martin in Montreal) and then finished, hilted, proofed, and sold by Savage & Lyman in Montreal, a common practice for armsmakers then.  Key Points: Evidence of Manufacturing: Swords clearly marked "SAVAGE & LYMAN MONTREAL" exist in museum collections, showing they were a recognized name in arms. Role: They functioned as an arms dealer and supplier, customizing and selling weapons for Canadian military and militia. Production vs. Supply: While they might not have forged every single blade from raw steel in-house, they were responsible for the final product, including proofing and adding their own markings, as seen on a 1885 Chasseurs Canadiens sword. This rifle was purchased and imported by me in 2010. I’m the original owner. This is a left hand bolt action .22lr, magazine fed 5 shot repeater. It has a 24” #3 Douglas barrel,OD green Kevlar stock w/cheekpiece. There are a total of 3-5 shot magazines plus one that needs work to function properly. I’ve ruined enough mags to know better than to try to fix it myself. The barrelled action was a satin finish that’s been Ceracoated. It has a Timney trigger and a Talley picatinny 0 degree rail, also two sets of different height 1” ULA proprietary rings also made by Talley. Includes two EB Rifleman 2.8-9X40 green anodized scopes with P4 reticle and target turrets, a wood M40 style stock that has a pillar bedded action and free floated barrel. The Kevlar stock is full length bedded including the barrel. Speaking of the barrel, it’s a 24” chrome/moly not stainless and it’s 0.660” at the muzzle, so it’s heavier than a standard barrel but it’s not as heavy as a varmint weight barrel. It’s for sale because I’m not going to make good use of it at my age. It’s only going to waste in the gun safe. Once again it is a left hand action. Condition and performance? Condition is Excellent and can it shoot? Absolutely. It’s not picky about ammo. Will shoot most standard velocity well, never tried high velocity and absolutely no Stingers. I believe they’ll cause problems due to the type of chamber. Besides, if you use Stingers you don’t need this type of rifle. If you have any other questions or need more photos, let me know.

Classic Mauser-style bolt-action rifle made by Zastava, chambered in .30-06 Springfield. Features a 24" barrel, internal magazine with hinged base plate, hooded front sight and flip-down rear sight. Mauser-style controlled-feed action with set trigger. Receiver is drilled and tapped for optics. Bore is in great shape. Used but solid. At this price, it’s hard to find a true Mauser design with a control feed and set trigger. Just a good old used Serbian bolt gun with real steel and wood. PAL required and will be verified. Not interested in trades. Prefer FTF deal in Edmonton but can ship at buyers cost.
