It is developed from the muskets used at the tail end of the American Revolution right through to the war of 1812 and the Mexican-American war This is not the standard 39 inch barrel version but the nonstandard 46 inch configuration. This is a 1940 Ishapore made No 1 MK111 ( not a MK111*) with mag cutoff and period correct RFI stamped bayonet. The hardware and wood set is good to excellent condition ( for an 84 year old rifle) and as far as I can tell, completely original from the factory. Bolt, receiver, Barrel, rear sight and nose cap are all matching numbers. The magazine isn't matching numbers but is RFI stamped. The bayonet is the short 12 inch "Indian Pattern" which I believe is a 1943 made bayonet. There are some visible repairs to the butt stock, maybe field repairs or post military use - I don't know. I can't make out the markings on the underside of the butt stock but it doesn't appear to be English or Latin script, possibly Punjabi, Bengali or Burmese. The barrel is probably nearing the end of it's life but I have taken this rifle to the range numerous times and it shoots fine with pretty good accuracy at 100 yards. I didn't really want to sell this one as it's a great historical piece, but I need to reduce the amount of Rifles and spare parts I have. Up for serious consideration, is a late 1800's Hammered 12 Guage Double Barrelled Shotgun. Manufactured by Claybrough and Johnstone, Price Street, Birmingham England sometime after 1868. The steel is Damascus finish with a 30 inch barrel. Calibre is 12 Guage 2.5 inches. I have never fired the gun. The inside of the barrell(s) are clean , with no pitting. The unit has tiny marks and scratches over its surface on both wood and metal. The one barrel has a tiny indent approximately 16 inches from the breach.It is slightly visible on the inside of the barrel. Each barrel has the numbers "293" stamped on them as well as the underside of the foregrip. The number "144" is stamped on the centre rib of the barrel underneath the foregrip. Both firing pins/hammers need a tiny adjustment. Hopefully the photos tell you the overall condition the gun is in. If you have any questions, please email me via this ad. Seats: 6 seats total – the front 4 fold down to make bench seats if desired (with small storage compartment underneath either way) and the rear 2 have substantial storage. One is fully available, the other has dual battery system within taking up about half of it. Upholstery generally strong with some expected wear and tear. Canopy: Full enclosure with see-through poly window for convenient navigation in cold, wet, or rainy conditions. Front flap zipper allows for convenient access to the bow to stow ropes/crab traps, get a better view, or re-enact the scene from Titanic where Jack and Rose stand at the front of the ship. (Re-enacting other scenes from Titanic not recommended). Side zippers allow the entire rear to be taken off for fishing or recreating, while keeping the front in place. Far more extensive and customizable than a bimini top. Engine: 120 HP OMC Stern Drive gasoline inboard, model no. CUFM19EX. She's old but true; reliable start even from cold on a well-charged battery; ether occasionally comes in handy after winter but usually not necessary. Could use a good carb clean/tune, and the belt is starting to look rough. To Oil can never be changed too often. 100 yr old Double-barrel. Fantastic condition fo the age. Butt and fore-end wood are perfect, no scratches or dings, still carrying the original varnish. 30" Barrels, a bit of wear showing, but nothing serious. Original blueing has aged to a decent patina. A couple of small dings on the barrel, due to sitting in a safe for many many years. Shoots beautifully and is a great gun for trap or gamebirds. I would no recommend letting off both barrels at once unless you know how to brace yourself properly. Breech is not fancy, with minor scrollwork. Historically, Fox rates as one of the better non-European shotguns from this era. Would consider trade for pre-1970 Winchester '94 in .30-.30.
