VKT (Valmet), or the State Rifle Factory became operational September 9, 1928. Since 1930 Valmet's factory rifle club was active as well, having their hand in the design of the Finnish Lion, together with Aimo Lahti, the chief designer. 2. The Finnish Lion has the longest manufacturing time of all Finnish guns, from 1930 to 1979. Models are: M30 (prototype), M31 mod I, mod IIa, IIb, IVb, IVc, M35, M45, M52, M55, M59, M62, M65, M70, M200002 (Finnish Lion Standard) and wild boar version. Heavier models were the Finnish Lion Match and Champion. Two lighter version were also made, Junior and Pikku Leijona (Little Lion). 3. Serial numbers start from #1 (1932), and end into # 14,358 (1979). 4. The bolt and trigger are said to have been ahead of their time. The lock time is fast. Also the barrels were accurate. Champion models should have a set trigger, which makes lock time longer, but reduces pull weight. 5. Janhonen -Stockholm 1947, 40 shots standing, 377, H. Erben 6. The Helsinki Olympics in 1952 was the prime time of the Lion. A quarter of all shooters shot the Lion, prone gold was won by a Romanian - a Mr. Sirbu, score 400. A very well presented Sako III, offered as a complete kit. The barrel is clean and shows good and well defined rifling. The crown is free of any damage or pitting. The finish of the barrel is in matt black and there is some loss around the muzzle. The bolt, bolt way and chamber are all clean. The bolt face is clean and free of any marks. The condition of the bolt handle indicated very little use. The laminate stock is in excellent condition and features sling mounts fore and aft. The rifle is complete with a Leupold VX III, 3.5 - 10 x 50, set on quality 2 piece mounts and rings. The Moderator is also included. No Manufacturer is visible. The mod is 17.75" in length. It has proof. 1x Magazine is included.
