The S8 wraps backwards over the barrel and makes the barrel look like a shorter barreled, suppressed firearm without doing either of those things. It is made out of a corrosion resistant stainless steel, nitrided black, for years of hard professional use. Although the linear compensator does not decrease the sound the firearm makes, it does direct that sound away from the shooter making the shooting experience a bit easier on the ears. The S8 compensator comes in 3 threading patterns: 1/2x28TPI (the .223 standard). 5/8x24TPI 1/2x36TPI The compensator requires a barrel diameter less than 1” with an unobstructed 2” of barrel behind the threads (before thing like gas blocks, front sight towers or bayonet lugs). If you have things like front sight posts that prevent a wrap around comp, consider the S9. The S9 was developed when customers running the ruger PC or the RDB couldn't use the S8 due to its wrap back design. Selling/trading a Winchester Model 100 semi auto .308. Overall it's in very nice shape. Made in 1969, 22" barrel. Steel is in very nice shape throughout with very nice original blue, only small spots of fading here or there. Wood stock is in very good shape, a few normal bumps/bruises - nothing major. Bore appears to be in nice shape from the naked eye but upon bore-scoping shows some pits throughout and the gas port has slightly ovalled. Comes topped with its original front sight, rear sight no longer present. Has a set of flip over Weaver 1" rings as well. Will come with one detachable magazine. Looking for $850 shipped. The word Paragon means, “a model of excellence”. And this is true of this optic series. I see the Paragon as being the technological descendant of the old Bellorussian PK-AS sight, a one power prism sight that through innovative use of lenses, seems to have a nearly non existent edge when you look through it. Thick opaque edges serve only to limit situational awareness. Competing brands and their prism sights are a miss due to large knobs… they are “good enough”. But the nearly invisible edge of the PK-AS and later on the Paragon discarded the idea that “good enough” was actually “good enough” in regards to situational awareness. Unlike the PK-AS, the Paragon is designed to be small and light.
