The S8 wraps backwards over the barrel and makes the barrel look like a shorter barreled, suppressed firearm without doing either of those things. It is made out of a corrosion resistant stainless steel, nitrided black, for years of hard professional use. Although the linear compensator does not decrease the sound the firearm makes, it does direct that sound away from the shooter making the shooting experience a bit easier on the ears. The S8 compensator comes in 3 threading patterns: 1/2x28TPI (the .223 standard). 5/8x24TPI 1/2x36TPI The compensator requires a barrel diameter less than 1” with an unobstructed 2” of barrel behind the threads (before thing like gas blocks, front sight towers or bayonet lugs). If you have things like front sight posts that prevent a wrap around comp, consider the S9. The S9 was developed when customers running the ruger PC or the RDB couldn't use the S8 due to its wrap back design. SN 13745, excellent overall. ​ History & Background Sullivan Forehand was an employee of Ethan Allen, the famous New England gunmaker. In 1860 he worked in an administrative capacity when he met his future wife - Allen's daughter - at work, and after marrying into the family became a partner in the business. Henry Wadsworth, an officer in the union army, met another of Allen's daughters while still in service during the war, and married into the family as well. Upon his discharge from the army, Wadsworth joined the company which was renamed "Ethan Allen & Co." After Allen's death in 1871, the two sons-in-law took over the firm and renamed it "Forehand & Wadsworth. They would become well known especially for their bulldogs, but also their many fine pocket and large-frame revolvers, single-shot deringers and pistols. Forehand & Wadsworth remained in business until 1890 when Henry Wadsworth retired and Sullivan renamed the company "Forehand Arms". After Sullivan's death in 1898 the company foundered and was taken over by Hopkins & Allen in 1902.

Swiss M1882 Service Revolver, 7.5mm/ 32 S&W Swiss Ordnance The Swiss Service Revolver of 1882 was a modification of the Nagant revolver in use since 1878. It was modified by Swiss Colonel Rudolf Schmidt. It employs the Georges Abati cylinder advance system, by which the cylinder can be advanced without raising the hammer when the loading gate is open. This allows the shooter to load and unload the cylinder quickly, without having to touch the hammer. The gun is of typical Swiss quality, with clock-like precision.​ This one is in very fine condition, as restored. The blue is intact. The markings and numbers are sharp. The serial numbers match. There are also several sub-assembly numbers visible. The action is strong and accurate, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly. The bore of the 4 1/2 inch barrel is good, with sharp rifling and no signs of use. The gun is chambered for the Swiss 7.5mm cartridge, but will accept a .32 S&W long/short as well. The brown plastic grips are excellent and undamaged. SN 2357, very fine as restored.

The action is strong and accurate, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly without play. The bore of the 5-inch barrel is very good, with sharp rifling and mirror bright. The rosewood grips are very good and undamaged. They look like they may have been re-varnished once. SN 59474, very good overall. History & Background Horace Smith and Daniel Baird Wesson acquired Rollin White’s patent (1855) for the bored-through cylinder to manufacture what they originally called the No. 1 revolver in .22 rim fire. It proved to be a rather ineffective little pocket revolver but was nonetheless very popular with civilians as a personal protective weapon. In 1861, just as the civil war gained momentum, S&W decided that they needed a larger caliber revolver in order to be able to convince the buying public (many of them enlisted in the war) that their gun was a viable protective option and as a back-up gun in battle. The scaled-up design was duly named the No. 2 and was nicknamed the “Army”, as it was widely used by military personnel as a personal side arm. Smith & Wesson retained and defended the Rollin White patent aggressively throughout the civil war period, and until its expiry in 1870, and therefore the No. 2 “Army” would be the only American made cartridge revolver used during this conflict (although several “unlicensed” makers added their wares into the fray, such as Uhlinger, Pond and Moore). The model is called “Old Model” due to its frame shape – the square butt and octagonal barrel of the model 1 ½ First Issue, as compared to the bird’s head grip and round barrel of the Second Issue. There is no “New Model” Army. The "No. 2 Old Model" was a popular personal side arm of many officers in the Union forces during the American Civil War, and is also known as the "Army" model. It was first introduced in 1861, and made until about 1874. The "No. 2" refers to the frame size, "No. 1" having been the first, .22 caliber pocket revolver and the "No. 3"'s being the large-frame revolvers. The 1 1/2 was introduced after the number 2, and since it fits in between the no. 1 and no. 2, it was named the no. 1 1/2. The no. 2 was owned by such famous Americans as General George Armstrong Custer and "Wild Bill" Hickok, the marshal of Deadwood...

This is conversion to 45ACP /45 Auto also compatible with .455 Webley As well as original 11mm ammo. This one is in excellent original condition. it is "in the white", meaning it has never been blued or plated. It is not pitted, and all the markings are sharp and complete. The serial numbers - or parts rof - are repeated on all components: the barrel, cylinder, frame, grips, internal mechanism parts and even the screw heads and escutcheons. Everything matches. The bore of the 4 1/2 inch barrel is as perfect and it is mirror bright and the rifling is sharp. The barrel is newer replacement dated 1917. The action is excellent and accurate, and the cylinder indexes and locks without any play. The walnut grips are excellent and show no wear or damage this one looks like new. SN G38552, manufactured in 1883, rated excellent overall. MAS Mle 1873 French Service Revolver, 11mm French Ordnance The Mle 1873 was France's first double action cartridge revolver. After the disastrous loss to Prussia in the war of 1870, the French military closely examined its armaments and small arms, and they came to the conclusion that a new, more rugged and powerful side arm for their infantry was required. The result was the Mle 1873, designed by the famous partners of Chamelot & Delvigne, whose genius ideas would dominate much of the European military (and commercial) small arms market for decades to come. Many European countries adopted their designs, including Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Russia and Belgium. Only the Brits and Germans would continue to develop their own side arms.

Founded in 1868 by the principals Charles Converse, Charles and Samuel Hopkins, and Charles Allen, the firm assumed the assets of the Bacon Manufacturing Company. H&A used Bacon's machinery and inventory of parts, and continued at first to make Bacon's various models before switching to cartridge revolvers and later rifles and shot guns. H&A was in business until 1915, and claimed to be the "largest manufacturers of high-grade, popular priced firearms in the world". Hopkins & Allen were well known for their pocket revolvers and Merwin & Hulbert branded large-frame revolvers. H&A are generally of a better quality and workmanship than other suicide specials.

Iver Johnson "American Bull Dog", .38 RF short and long Revolver Iver Johnson was one of the most prolific makers of pocket revolvers in America, from 1871 to nearly the present. One of the earliest makers of bulldog-type, double action revolvers, the Iver Johnson American Bull Dog is well known and in demand. These were made by Johnson's and the relief grip showing the American eagle on a shield is typical of Johnson's ware. ​ This one is in very fine to excellent condition, with 99% original nickel. The action is accurate and strong, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly with no play. The bore of the 2 1/2-inch barrel is good with strong rifling throughout. The black hard-rubber grips are excellent and undamaged. SN 2407, excellent overall. History & Background Iver Johnson (1841-1895) was a Norwegian gunsmith who came from Bergen to America in 1863. He found work immediately at Ethan Allen's factory in Worcester, Mass. where he met Martin Bye. Johnson worked at Allen's through the civil war years, as demand for firearms was high, and work was plentiful. By 1871 Johnson and Bye had decided to venture out on their own and founded Johnson Bye & Co. in Worcester, moving to Fitchburg by 1891. In 1883 Martin Bye left the company, selling his interest to Iver. The company name was changed to its most famous form, "Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works, Fitchburg, Mass.", a name it would retain until the outbreak of the First World War. Iver Johnson did not only produce a large variety of firearms, they were also famous for their excellent quality bicycles and motorcycles. The company would remain in business until 1993. The name was "revived" in 2006 and the brand is still used today.
