It is characterized by the button-type barrel release and ejector mounted between the barrels. It is chambered for the .32 rim fire cartridge. The gun is in excellent condition, with original blue intact and the case colors on the frame. The markings are sharp and clear. This is a unique variant with a floating, internal firing pin which rotates a quarter turn with each cocking of the hammer and these are rarely encountered. The 4 bores are good with strong rifling all the way. The black gutta percha grips are excellent and undamaged. SN 5822, excellent overall. Christian Sharps (1811-1874) was one of the best-known firearms designers and manufacturers of the 19th century. Although he never achieved the volumes of Colt, S&W and Remington, Christian Sharps was a major supplier of long arms to the Union during the civil war. His carbines are iconic among civil war collectors. Sharps sporting rifles were extremely popular at the time, and still fetch premium prices to this day. Christian Sharps had a rocky and sometimes acrimonious relationship with his managers and partners, and would leave the Hartford firm in 1853, returning to Philadelphia. There, he formed a new company in 1854, called C. Sharps & Co. He manufactured pepperboxes and single-shot pistols, while the Sharps Rifle Co. continued with long arms. In 1862, Christian Sharps formed "Sharps & Hankins", in partnership with William Hankins, who had sold his own plant to William Uhlinger. I’d like to share a few important details about the gun so you can buy with confidence: 1. Condition & history I purchased this shotgun used about a year ago from a well-known gun store in Vancouver. It was fully inspected by their gunsmith at the time of purchase and confirmed to be in excellent condition. I have personally put fewer than 350 rounds through it. Updated ejector design (important) This is the latest upgraded version of the 690. Please note that not all 690 Black Edition models have this upgrade, but this one does. The original 690 and 692 shared the same problematic ejector design. Beretta resolved this issue with the 694, and my updated 690 Black Edition uses the improved ejector system as well. You can look up images of the ejectors used in the 694 and 692 models and compare them with the one on this gun. The 692 never received this fix, which is why it no longer appears on Beretta’s website, while both the 690 Black Edition is still listed. In practical terms, you don’t need to spend extra on a 694 to get a similar shooting experience This 690 delivers excellent quality and performance, clearly above the 686, while saving you money. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. All of this out of the way I hope I can find and deal with the right people potentially an old timer who has an older collection of my favorites like the antique 6 shooters single & double action, I have been searching for a good condition grandfathered type short barrel 38/22/44/ namely but not strictly I simply require or would like to meet or find a like minded person who is willing to part with a nice potentially original out of their collection to hand down ideally I am after makes and models like the Smith & Wesson/colt single army/Ruger and Taurus model types if we are speaking strictly collectors deep history antiques, Wanting ideally, a good .38 short revolver action that is either already no longer reg. traced or an updated 1930s-1960s model whether it a detective issue snub or a regular issue short barrel 6 shooter that still has a speed loader option or preferably a modified reconstruction and has a side gate loader for single rounds as these are the most utilitarian and essential esthetics. This is an excellent single action Smith & Wesson New. Model 3 in .44 Russian. This is an early production pistol as noted by the 4 digit serial number. This pistol is in superior condition given its age. The mechanics are excellent and the bore and chamber, though showing the typical evidence of black powder use, are in extremely good condition with strong rifling. Some original blue remains in protected areas with the balance faded to a very nice patina. It comes with a rare and highly collectible H.H. Heiser 3 loop antique holster which is probably not as old as the pistol itself. Overall, a highly collectible and desirable pistol. As with all antiques, no PAL or registration is required.

Want a new optic, and want to buy Canadian? There's a new option for Canadian glass, sort of: Apex Optics is based in Calgary, but its scopes are actually manufactured in Japan. Apex Optics was founded in early 2020 by a group of western shooters from a range of competitive disciplines. Their goal was to create a new optics brand for competition and long-range shooting reflecting their backgrounds (IPSC, Steel Challenge, 3-Gun, Precision Rimfire, Extreme Long Range, etc.). Several of these shooters are well-known in the west's shooting scene, with long history of competition. Apex's first release will be the Rival 4-32x56 mm, which it's been developing for about 18 months. Apex partnered with Japan Optics to actually manufacture the scope, although it's designed here in Canuckistan. The scopes also undergo quality control testing in Japan, and a secondary round of quality control in Calgary. This scope has some unique features due to its design process, including Apex's proprietary CLR competition reticle. This first focal plane reticle is designed for long-range matches where shooters need their scope to handle quick transitions, with top half of the reticle unobstructed. It comes with ranging marks, for scenarios where you can't use electronic rangefinders, and has six-level illuminated main stadia. You can see a full explanation of the CLR reticle design at Apex's website. The scope also comes with elevation turret that features 15 MILs per revolution; windage and elevation adjustments are 0.1 MIL per click. The turrets are not locking, but come with mechanical zero stop and two-turn indicators (future scopes may come with locking turrets). There's a stainless steel pop-up turn indicator. Apex says it has the industry's first see-through integrated and removable throw lever. The new Rival scope has parallax knob indicators for approximate value for 100-, 200-, 500-, and 800-yard distances. There's a proprietary hydrophobic seven-layer multi-coated lens, and other features selected to give Apex's customers top performance.
