This is a .22 competition target Vickers rifle made in the 1930s, some time between 1934 and 1939. It is a 44 1/2" long, quite heavy beast with the Vickers signature 'relieved' barrel-to-fore stock mounting, apparently to enhance the accuracy. It utilises the narrow, falling block, Martini-type action. The bore is bright and shiney, with crisp rifling. It has competion-type fore and rear sights. Overall it is in good to excellent shape. The only thing of note is that at some point a previous owner drilled a line of holes underneath the forestock, which have been filled. The images give an idea of the overall condition of the rifle. 7x57 (7mm Mauser) built by H. Berg on a Mauser 98 Action from Flensburg (NE Germany).  Specs:  24" Barrel using Bohler Spezial Austrian Steel (not sure the twist rate). Walnut Stock, 3-position safety, double-set triggers (roughly 5.5 lbs & 2.5 lbs).  Flip-Up express rear sight.  This is a "Hunting Gun" and shows typical scuffs, scrapes and minor dents throughout.  The receiver has NOT been drilled & tapped.  The test target shown was only at 25 yards, just to prove that the gun shoots well.  On the underside of the barrel is bare metal (32 mm X 6mm) where I believe there was a mounted front swivel on a plate.  There is no swivel on the fore-stock but could easily be installed.  The barrel is clean & bright with good rifling.  This would be a great quad gun or open sight deer stalking rifle through the woods.  I'm selling because I have four other 7X57's and trying to reduce my collection. I have for sale a very nice Belgium Browning Auto 5 Light Twelve made in 1973. It has a 28" fixed full choke barrel. Bluing, engraving and wood checkering on the forestock are still in great shape. Bluing shows well on the majority of the rifle with the exception of the right hand side of the receiver where it looks like moisture sat on it and took of the finish, has lightly freckled as seen in pictures. Wood stocks are in nice shape, some light finish loss and handling marks throughout and one fairly decent rub on the left side of the forestock. Bore is excellent.
