Howdy Townpost. This is a nice little and fair conditioned pocket tip-up revolver, in .30 Rimfire. In the 19th century, XXX was used denote very strong malt liquor. So I think marlin was trying to market in the name that this is a stout little gun. Similarly done by Hopkins & Allen with the naming of their "XL" series of pocket revolvers. These were made by Marlin from 1873-1887 with a total of roughly 26,000 being made. They are essentially copies of the Smith and Wesson Model 1 1/2's and 2's. The mechanical condition of this firearm is excellent. The hammer and cylinder function reliably and as intended. Timing and lock up are excellent. The barrel is tight on the frame. This revolver was tuned by my gunsmith too. The bore is worn but there's some life left in it. There's frosting at the front of the cylinder and the forcing cone. The nickel is mostly present on the frame and the beautiful original rosewood grips are in excellent shape. The revolver is located in Calgary AB for local delivery or pickup. Howdy Townpost! I've got a nice little uncommon and good condition subcompact Remington for sale now! This started its life as a Remington Model 1865 New Model Police as a cap and ball percussion revolver in .36 caliber. Many of these were never percussion guns as they existed in a weird transition period. And Remington made some of them from the ground up as cartridge guns. This one most likely was in inventory as a percussion revolver and was turned into a .38 rimfire cartridge revolver based on the serial number, in my opinion. These are one of the more rare and lesser known Remington cap and ball guns that were made. Remington only made 18,000 between 1865 and 1873. So they are relatively uncommon and scarce gun today. This is actually my personal favorite model of Remington percussion revolver they're a very handy subcompact-sized gun by today's standards they're bigger and much more comfortable in the hand in the grip than the pocket models but nice and light unlike the full size military .44s and they point very naturally. This particular example is in very good condition the nickel is a very high percentage of coverage some of the original silver plate is still visible on the trigger guard and some of the low areas. The color case hardening is still very colorful and defined on the hammer (pictured). The grips have been refinished but they are the originals. The wood grain is very interesting and beautiful in my opinion. The bore is in excellent condition especially for a Civil War era black powder firearm. This was likely carried in a police officer's holster and not fired much. It was well taken care of and the clean and good condition bore and chambres are reflection of that. The the mechanical function of this firearm is excellent as well. When I got the firearm it was actually in amazing condition to begin with and the mechanical function was perfect. It locks up and times perfectly. The hammer and the trigger pull are very crisp, light and smooth. And didn't require any adjustment, Remington did the job and they did it right the first time. The entire revolver has been taken apart and given a gunsmith's cleaning and was reassembled and lightly oiled. I came across a nice little Hunter leather holster at a gun show and found that it fit this gun very well so it's included as a freebie with the gun (pictured). Iver Johnson "American Bull Dog", .38 RF short and long Revolver Iver Johnson was one of the most prolific makers of pocket revolvers in America, from 1871 to nearly the present. One of the earliest makers of bulldog-type, double action revolvers, the Iver Johnson American Bull Dog is well known and in demand. These were made by Johnson's and the relief grip showing the American eagle on a shield is typical of Johnson's ware. ​ This one is in very fine to excellent condition, with 99% original nickel. The action is accurate and strong, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly with no play. The bore of the 2 1/2-inch barrel is good with strong rifling throughout. The black hard-rubber grips are excellent and undamaged. SN 2407, excellent overall. History & Background Iver Johnson (1841-1895) was a Norwegian gunsmith who came from Bergen to America in 1863. He found work immediately at Ethan Allen's factory in Worcester, Mass. where he met Martin Bye. Johnson worked at Allen's through the civil war years, as demand for firearms was high, and work was plentiful. By 1871 Johnson and Bye had decided to venture out on their own and founded Johnson Bye & Co. in Worcester, moving to Fitchburg by 1891. In 1883 Martin Bye left the company, selling his interest to Iver. The company name was changed to its most famous form, "Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works, Fitchburg, Mass.", a name it would retain until the outbreak of the First World War. Iver Johnson did not only produce a large variety of firearms, they were also famous for their excellent quality bicycles and motorcycles. The company would remain in business until 1993. The name was "revived" in 2006 and the brand is still used today.

This one is in excellent condition. The nitro blue on the trigger and hammer is well visible and retains 95% of original blued finish. The action is strong and accurate, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly very little play on trigger pull. The bore of the 4 1/2 inch barrel is good and bright with strong rifling. The markings are sharp and defined throughout. The assembly numbers on the cylinder, crane and frame. The original grips are good and undamaged.​​ S/N 71799 History & Background This model is an important milestone in Colt handgun development, as it is the first American revolver with a swing-out cylinder mounted on a crane, a development which would become the standard for modern revolvers to this day. The 1889 cylinder mechanism was already "on the books" as early as 1880, based on designs of Colt engineers William Mason, C.J Ehbets and Horace Lord. It would take almost ten years for Colt executives to give the green light to manufacture this gun, and once it was available, the US government quickly took notice and ordered several thousand for the Navy. Colt adopted the name "New Navy" in honor of this order. The gun has an interesting counter-clockwise cylinder rotation and a locking mechanism which relies entirely on the two-pronged hand. The 1889 model would remain in production for 18 years, with significant improvements in 1892, 94, 95, 96, 1901 and 1903. When it was first introduced in 1889, it met with no competition from the other major makers - Smith & Wesson were still heavily engaged in manufacturing top-break revolvers, and Remington only had their solid frame revolvers with removable cylinders to offer. It would take S&W another ten years before they had a viable alternative to Colt's design.

This is a functional scarce and unique Antique Galand Model 1868 single and double action Revolver. Designed for 7 mm Perrin which gives it antique status, this revolver happens to accept the nearly identical .32 S&W short cartridge which can be reloaded at a low cost, and can even be made from cut down .32 S&W Long brass. There are very few antiques that will accept this caliber, so this is a lucky find. Unlike most antiques which are big and heavy, this is a small frame and compact revolver which still shoots a reliable round. Overall length is 7 inches. Mechanics are fair, with a working action in both single and double action. The hammer is strong and indexing is reliable. The rifling is still strongly defined down the 3" barrel, with evenly scattered patches of inactive oxidation from black powder use. The Galand patented mechanism involves a very unique lever which pulls the barrel and cylinder straight forward while ejecting spent shells. All components of this work fine. As a revolver that's a century and a half old, some wear and wiggle is evident in the lever and hinge mechanism, but it still works consistently and properly. Visually this revolver has an even gray/blue surface with some bits of lustre showing beyond the aged patina. No significant pitting is evident, though scattered dings and scratches are present. The grips are solid, with the left one showing an old crack that could be pretty easily stabilized and closed back up. No PAL, 18+ Ships Canada Check my ads for more antiques. Webley & Sons circa 1896 chambered in .476 Eley and .455 Webley, and sold by the famed John Rigby & Co. in London. Established in 1775, John Rigby & Co remains to this day a staple of the fine firearms market. Their role in this piece's history adds even further to collector value. These revolvers were very popular private purchases among sportsmen and higher ranking officers around the turn of the 20th century up through WW1 as reliable, accurate, and elegant handguns. With an impressive 6" barrel and mirror-bore rifling, this is a collector's or target shooter's dream. For sale is my a mechanically great, all matching, 1880 production short barrel "Shopkeeper" Colt Thunderer in .41 LC. Selling because cash is tight. As an Antique, this handgun is exempt from Canadian licensing and registration requirements, and can be used anywhere a nonrestricted firearm would be legal. Black powder or light load smokeless .41 Long Colt rounds can be purchased online or worked into deal. The 1877 line of revolvers was Colt's first double action model ever produced. They made almost 170,000 from 1877 to 1909 with three main designations: the Colt "Lightning" in .38 LC, the "Thunderer" in .41 LC, and the "Rainmaker" in .32. However, due to Canada's laws, only the .41 caliber ones are designated as "antique". This is luckily one of those guns, and it needs no registration or licensing to own. These models are highly collectible handguns, particularly the short barrelled "Shopkeeper" model due to its easy to stow nature. Arizona Wild West gunslinger Doc Holiday carried one of these. This particular example, SN 22261, was produced rather early in 1880 and has a short but accurate 3.5" barrel. All parts match, and the exterior retains an excellent 85% of the original nickel. The internal mechanics are incredibly clean and original. The bore is fair with strong defined rifling. Grips are nice like-new repros with rampaging Colt medallions. All hammer clicks are present, lockup is rock solid, and the trigger pull is pleasant in both SA and DA. The barrel is stamped with the Hartford Connecticut Colt address and the acid etched "COLT D.A. 41" is still visible. The left side of the frame displays the 3 line 1871, 1874, and 1875 patents. It reads "41 CAL" on the trigger guard. Purchased new in 2014 and shot 40 times cleaned and left in storage since. While hunting the back nipple that holds the shoulder strap broke. The bolt was lost during storage and the one seen in the picture is from a 710 Remington 30-06 this 30-06 is a Remington Model 770. It fits and latches in a little snug no round has been fired through with the 710 bolt. Please consult a gunsmith prior to firing. Gun is reduced price to account for a new bolt.

*Sold* Parting with my Colt 1878 revolver. She's single and double action, chambered in .476 Eley which is interchangeable with .455 Webley. These revolvers were most commonly chambered in .44-40 Winchester and dubbed the "Frontier Model", with the .476 chambering being very scarce. They were introduced in 1878 as a larger frame, larger caliber twist on the new Colt 1877 Thunderer/Lightning model, filling a niche most similar to the 1873 Single Action Army, but this time in double action as well. Selling to clear up some moolah for car repairs. Pre-1898 Canada legal antique. This revolver was made in 1885. It has the desirable Pall Mall one line address on the barrel reading "COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. DEPOT 14. PALL MALL LONDON" with most words still visible. This address is a rarity and was only put on guns intended for the European markets. Serials match 15xxx, with the last 3 digits stamped on the cylinder. The loading gate is a replacement. This gorgeous revolver has an extremely nice black finish with shiny nickeled highlights on the hammer, trigger, and hammer screw. The visual condition speaks for itself. A stunning piece sure to catch eyes, and assurance that the metal will remain protected. The rifling is still strong and defined, showing some scattered frosting. The grips appear original, and are sturdy with minor holster wear on the high points from time on the hip. The action is great. The internals are shiny in factory condition. The cylinder locks up airtight at firing position. I have never seen an 1878 or 1877 with tighter lockup. In the unique fashion of the 1878 model design, this revolver has no cylinder stop allowing slight backrotation when you disengage the action, but it still generally cycles. The loading gate is a bit wobbly, contributing to backrotation. Winchester Model 1894 Ref #1041. Early five digit serial number. Dated 1897. This Winchester is a lever action, sporting rifle, octagon barrel, full mag. Dated 1897 Stock is excellent, appears original. A few marks. Original metal recoil pad fits well. Barrel is 26” long with sights intact. The read sights are intact and appear original. Bore is very nice, no obvious corrosion, does not appear to have ever seen black powder. Rifling throughout. Bluing is 40-50%. There are bumps and scratches on metal expected on a plus 125-year-old firearm. The drivers side receiver has a few light scratches and bangs. Screws have been used but are still usable. There is one on the loading port side that may have been a replacement. The lever functions well, safety checks out and the trigger pull, and drop are good. Firing pin is evident and protrudes when pushed on. Ejector is intact and tight, and magazine follower functions correctly.  Overall, I grade this firearm as good and should be fully functional. I don’t see many from this time frame with bores looking this good. I did not test with snap caps or fire. Only reasonable offers are considered. Low ball offers will not be responded to. Trades in person only. The firearms and accessories I sell may be new or used and are usually acquired through estate liquidations. I visually inspect them and check basic operation only and share what I know or find in the description and photos. They are not live test fired. This is an antique Wesson & Harrington No.3 Second Type Revolver. It is estimated that less than 1000 of these second type revolvers were produced from 1874to 1879. This has a 5 shot fluted cylinder and is chambered in .32 rimfire. The octagon barrel is 2-3/4” long with the barrel address reading “WESSON & HARRINGTON WORCHESTER, MASS. PAT. FEB.7 JUNE 13,71”. The barrel markings are sharp. This revolver retains around 85+% of its original finish. Fire blue can still be found on the cylinder pin. The rosewood grips are in near excellent condition. Original metal recoil pad fits well. Barrel is 26” long with sights intact, rear sight may have been replaced at one time, again period correct. Bore has black powder corrosion but it’s clean now and has rifling top to bottom. Bluing appears original and app. 75-85% throughout. There are bumps and scratches on metal and evidence of minor surface rusting. Screws have been used, but in very good shape. The lever functions well, safety checks out and the trigger pull, and drop are good. Firing pin is evident and protrudes when pushed on. Ejector is intact and tight, and magazine follower functions correctly. Overall, I grade this firearm as very good and should be fully functional. I did not test with snap caps or fire. Only reasonable offers are considered. Low ball offers will not be responded to. Trades in person only.
