Sharps & Hankins "No. 3 C" Four-Barrel Pepperbox, .32 Caliber Rim Fire , SCARCE This one is a Sharps & Hankins four-barrel pepperbox classified as a "Model 3C". It is characterized by the button-type barrel release and ejector mounted between the barrels. It is chambered for the .32 rim fire cartridge. The gun is in excellent condition, with original blue intact and the case colors on the frame. The markings are sharp and clear. This is a unique variant with a floating, internal firing pin which rotates a quarter turn with each cocking of the hammer and these are rarely encountered. The 4 bores are good with strong rifling all the way. The black gutta percha grips are excellent and undamaged. SN 5822, excellent overall. Christian Sharps (1811-1874) was one of the best-known firearms designers and manufacturers of the 19th century. Although he never achieved the volumes of Colt, S&W and Remington, Christian Sharps was a major supplier of long arms to the Union during the civil war. His carbines are iconic among civil war collectors. Sharps sporting rifles were extremely popular at the time, and still fetch premium prices to this day. Christian Sharps had a rocky and sometimes acrimonious relationship with his managers and partners, and would leave the Hartford firm in 1853, returning to Philadelphia. There, he formed a new company in 1854, called C. Sharps & Co. He manufactured pepperboxes and single-shot pistols, while the Sharps Rifle Co. continued with long arms. In 1862, Christian Sharps formed "Sharps & Hankins", in partnership with William Hankins, who had sold his own plant to William Uhlinger. Sharps & Hankins would continue until 1866, producing their four-barrel pepperboxes, single shot pistols, and military grade long arms in competition with his former company in Hartford. Soon after the war, the partnership was dissolved, and Sharps would go back to his previous name of C. Sharps & Co. SN 13745, excellent overall. ​ History & Background Sullivan Forehand was an employee of Ethan Allen, the famous New England gunmaker. In 1860 he worked in an administrative capacity when he met his future wife - Allen's daughter - at work, and after marrying into the family became a partner in the business. Henry Wadsworth, an officer in the union army, met another of Allen's daughters while still in service during the war, and married into the family as well. Upon his discharge from the army, Wadsworth joined the company which was renamed "Ethan Allen & Co." After Allen's death in 1871, the two sons-in-law took over the firm and renamed it "Forehand & Wadsworth. They would become well known especially for their bulldogs, but also their many fine pocket and large-frame revolvers, single-shot deringers and pistols. Forehand & Wadsworth remained in business until 1890 when Henry Wadsworth retired and Sullivan renamed the company "Forehand Arms". After Sullivan's death in 1898 the company foundered and was taken over by Hopkins & Allen in 1902.

Frank Wesson Single-Shot Pistol, .32 RF Short/Long RARE Frank Wesson, elder brother to Daniel Baird Wesson of S&W fame was an accomplished gunmaker when Daniel was still a boy. The two younger Wessons would apprentice with their oldest brother Edwin, and learn much of their expertise from this talented and versatile master. Frank would move to California in the 1850's, probably lured by the opportunities presented by the gold rush, making and repairing guns for the local needs. By 1859 he had moved back to Worceater where he set up shop in his own name. Frank is best known for his fine rifles, "bicycle rifles", deringers and single-shot pistols. Frank Wesson never ventured into the revolver market until he had partnered with his nephew Gilbert Harrington to form Wesson & Harrington. The revolver making business continued to evolve as Wesson & Harrington first, and then Harrington & Richardson.​ This is Frank Wesson's "medium frame" single-shot pistol, chambered in .32 rim fire. It is in excellent condition, with original blue. The little lever on the bottom of the frame releases the barrel lock when the hammer is in the safety position, and the barrel snaps open as it should. It will not open if the hammer is down, or fully cocked. The bore of the3 5/8 inch barrel is excellent and bright, with sharp rifling. The rosewood grips are very fine. This is an early model of the first variant, of which only about 1000 were ever made. SN 54, excellent overall.

I’d like to share a few important details about the gun so you can buy with confidence: 1. Condition & history I purchased this shotgun used about a year ago from a well-known gun store in Vancouver. It was fully inspected by their gunsmith at the time of purchase and confirmed to be in excellent condition. I have personally put fewer than 350 rounds through it. The gun has always been carefully cleaned, oiled, and properly stored. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2. Updated ejector design (important) This is the latest upgraded version of the 690. Please note that not all 690 Black Edition models have this upgrade, but this one does. You may have heard about ejector issues on earlier 690/692 models. I had the same concern before buying, so I did extensive research. The original 690 and 692 shared the same problematic ejector design. Beretta resolved this issue with the 694, and my updated 690 Black Edition uses the improved ejector system as well. You can look up images of the ejectors used in the 694 and 692 models and compare them with the one on this gun. The 692 never received this fix, which is why it no longer appears on Beretta’s website, while both the 690 Black Edition is still listed. In practical terms, you don’t need to spend extra on a 694 to get a similar shooting experience This 690 delivers excellent quality and performance, clearly above the 686, while saving you money. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Professional Trap configuration This is the Professional Trap model with fixed chokes, so there’s no risk of loose tubes or thread damage. It’s also very easy to clean and maintain. The gun fires the first shot from the lower barrel, and the trap configuration is optimized for rising clay targets. You’ll naturally aim slightly lower than the clay, and once you’re used to it, it becomes extremely consistent and forgiving. This S&W No 2 .32 RF tip up barrel revolver is in VG-EX condition,both mechanically and cosmetically. It has a 5” barrel with light scattered pitting in the bore and 8/10 rifling VG+ shiny bore. The barrel/receiver break hinge is undamaged with no play,lock up is tight. No pitting on the frame,blueing is an honest 50%,grips in VG shape with no visible damage,no chips,gouges etc,just normal wear possibly revarnished if anything. Cylinder retains sharp teeth and Pitt free chambers,index & timing are perfect and hammer holds full cock strongly. Cylinder spins freely between hammer rest and full cock. This also comes with a period correct leather holster which is in VG+ shape,no tears,original stitching still in VG shape,it has been treated with Neatsfoot oil by myself to retain the leather’s suppleness as well as conditioning the stitching. Historically this type of mid size waist coat revolver was carried by Wild Bill Hickok as a gambling gun and a back up to his pair of Colt Navy .36 cap & ball revolvers.
