This ORIGINAL 1895 Marlin rifle was shipped from the New Haven, Connecticut factory on Apr. 29, 1903. Solidly built for the larger calibers, this one in 38-56 cal. and is in NRA fine condition. The receiver now appears as silver although its original case hardening pattern can still be made out. The rest of the metal has taken on a brownish patina. All numbers and lettering are sharp and legible. The barrel a 26 inch long smokeless steel SPECIAL order half round, half octagon version, with a 1/2 magazine. The bore is good with intact rifling and a bit of shine. The wood is a SPECIAL order walnut with a beautiful grain pattern on both the forearm as well as the butt stock. While no longer factory available the 38-56 caliber is equivalent to the 35 Rem. Reloading components are available from various sources. Marlin only produced only 18,000 Model 1895's, in contrast to Winchester producing 160,000 model 1886's which was the Marlin's counterpart and competition. This alone makes the Marlin a comparatively rare firearm. Factory Letter is included. All components that are numbered have been determined to be Matching! This includes the extra fancy stocks which do not show up in the letter. The purchaser will assume all shipping costs as well as any desired insurance. Please respond via email. This is a Tranter Model 1863 Single Action Revolver Chambered in .455 centre fire. The majority of the model 1863’s were a double action with only a few hundred being produced in single action. Approximate serial number range for the single actions are between 4000 to 4500. This item being serial number 4010 would make it one of the first to be made of this model. The single actions were mostly produced in .442 rimfire, it is not known how many were produced in centre fire making this even more rare. This item has a 6-1/2” barrel with Cogswell & Harrison London retailer address engraved into it. Birmingham proof marks can be found on the barrel and frame. The firearm retains around 85% of the original finish. The checkered walnut grips are in excellent condition with a few very light dings. Mechanically it is in excellent condition and functions as it should. This is a very attractive English revolver that would fit well with any antique collection. this is an antique to no PAL is required for purchase. Buyer must be 18 or older and able to prove it. Shipping is available at buyers expense. All used firearms should be inspected by a competent gunsmith prior to any form of use.
