It is distinguished from the 96/11 rifle by a curved butt plate and by a stock with an integral semi-pistol grip. It uses a graduated tangent sight which begins at 300 meters. The 1911 and 96/11 rifles were made with excellent craftsmanship, and were exceptionally accurate. For sale is a rare Ruger #1 (No. 1) single-shot falling block rifle chambered in 7×57mm (7mm Mauser). It is the RSI (International) model with 'Mannlicher' (i.e., full) stock. This model has a checkered walnut stock/forend (w/ Ruger's red rocoil pad), and blued metal (action/barrel). It has built-in iron sights, and comes with a set of 1" rings (steel) for mounting a scope. In addition, the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope side-mount. It also has sling swivel studs, and comes with a beautiful leather sling. This rifle has a top-tang safety. It is in excellent condition, with low round count (the bore is shiny with strong rifling). This Ruger #1 was shipped in 1990.

Started out at $1200 Now $950 (as of Dec 15th) According to the serial number 161XXX, it puts the date of manufacturing to 1902, crescent butt plate, semi-buckhorn rear sight, all original except rear sight elevator is a replacement. Round 26" barrel, dark bore, good rifling, approx. 20% plum finish remains with lacquering on some of the metal. Dark walnut forend & stock (original) with the stock having a small piece missing from the left side and about a 1.25" old crack on the wood right side both near the bottom of the tang/guard (pictures are attached) but stock is still mounted solid to the tang. Action is still quite tight for it's age and old sling swivels had been added to the rifle at some point in it's younger years. Must have valid PAL to purchase and will be verified. Howdy Townpost! I have a truly amazing one of a kind piece here for sale. I bought this for myself in the US over a year ago and I had it professionally restored and fully repaired. I am now looking to sell it. John Forbes, of Liverpool, was gunmaker to His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, later King George IV. And according to my research made mostly dueling and target pistols, and some small pocket pistols for only 5 years. Those years being 1805-1810. He spelt his name with I or Iohn and later switched the spelling to a J or John based on public records and some of the other examples of his dueling pistols that have sold at auction. That makes this a very rare and finely made pistol. This pistol would have cost a small fortune at the time it was made. Oftentimes dueling pistols come in pairs but it was cheaper to buy just one if they were offered as a single, and should you encounter someone who has insulted your honor and you demand satisfaction from them, they can bring their own pistol to the duel. The engraving is extremely fine, intricate and skilled. It would have taken many dozens of hours to complete and it was all done by hand. The engraving features drums, banners and spears, floral patterns, sunbursts on the base plate and lock, and a pineapple in the front of the trigger guard, which symbolizes wealth and status. Because this gun is a percussion conversion of the original flintlock mechanism the percussion hammer is engraved in a different style by a different engraver in a more simple floral and fish mouth style of engraving with gold inlay. Every screw is engraved to look like a flower and the escutcheons are also each engraved like a wreath. Overall there is a lot of fine detail with some simpler and less detailed later additions on the percussion mechanism and one spot on the side plate. The gun features gold inlay on the hammer which largely worn away. There is silver inlay on the outside of the breach, and a sterling silver wreath styled band wrapped around the base of the grip and a sliver bead front sight. The ramrod tip (which is a replacement) is silver plated brass, so too are the front stock cap near the muzzle, the rod pipe, cross key, and escutcheon around it are too. The grip baseplate is silver plated steel. The workmanship of this pistol is certainly of a quality of gunmaker worthy enough of being the gun maker of the Prince of Wales. Howdy Townpost. This is a fine English pocket or coat pistol made by Hollis and Sheath company which is the precursor to Hollis and Sons or Isaac Hollis and Sons. Wallace and sheath became Hollis and Sons in 1861 when Isaac Brentnall Sheath left the company to immigrate to Canterbury, Australia and raised sheep and owned coal mines in an area that is now a suburb of Melbourne. His gun making days were behind him, he'd become an industrialist down undah. Sheath & Hollis co-founded the company in 1849 and Sheath stayed with the company until as previously stated, 1861. That dates this firearm between 1849 and 1861. This is a single shot side hammer lock percussion pistol. It's a screw-barrel meaning you unthread the barrel, fill the powder chamber and place a ball on top it. You then use the barrel itself and the threads to seat the ball inside of the breach. Then a percussion cap on the nipple, put it at half cock put it in your dapper overcoat and pull it out should you meet any Scallywags on your travels. The gun is mechanically excellent. The bore condition is very good, there is some minor shallow pitting but overall the rifling is very sharp and clean and shiny. The overall exterior condition of the metal and wood is in excellent shape the diamond checkering are sharp and defined. The powder chamber has only minor pitting as pictured and was cleaned out internally. For a defensive coat pistol, the sights are excellent and easy to pick up and with a rifled bore in good condition I expect this pistol could be fired very accurately. To shoot this gun I would use 3F powder. Both number 10 and 11 caps fit the nipple reasonably well. A 40 caliber lead ball would be ideal as a projectile but you could definitely use .375 caliber balls with a patch no problem in my opinion. I haven't tried it myself though. Howdy Townpost. I have here a nicely restored Cooey Model 82. I got the gun as an oil stained and sporterized target .22. It's had the stock nicely refinished in a satin urethane finish done in the fashion to mimic an old oil finished stock. The stock has a pretty nice grain pattern on the underside of it (pictured). The bore is excellent. The stock had a chunk out of it to accomodate a Lyman peep-sight and the receiver was drilled and tapped for it as well. That has all been repaired (pictured) and is hardly noticeable now. There was a hairline crack near the middle barrel band that was filled too. It probably wasn't necessary to fill especially on a .22 , but hey she's been filled. It has all the C-broad arrow markings present. The rifle is located in Calgary AB for local delivery or pickup. Or I can ship it nationwide on the buyer's dime. If you live in Alberta I do get around the province a fair bit throughout the year, so if I happen to be heading to your area maybe we can do a meet up along the way on my travels to save you the shipping costs.
