This 12 gauge single shot has had the barrel shortened to about 20 inches. Barrel and receiver are in nice condition with little to no scratches shown in pictures. Selling/trading a Remington Model 1900 12 gauge side by side. Overall it's in good shape. Made in 1903, 30" barrels, 2 5/8" chambers, fixed chokes, with ejectors, hammerless. Barrels are made of Damascus steel and cannot handle modern ammunition, lighter blackpowder loads only. Steel is all in good shape, has some brazing repairs along the underside of the the barrels and one braze mark on the top of the rib. Barrels have some small dents along them. Wood stocks are in good shape, normal marks and dings throughout, one pin through the wrist and a repaired crack on the forestck. Bores are in good shape. Looking for $395 shipped. This is an early, pre-1893, Belgian-made Swedish model, before Nagant transferred production to Husqvarna. It is in excellent condition throughout, with the original blue intact. The nitre-blue colors on the loading gate spring, hammer and trigger are excellent. The action is crisp and strong, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly, without play. The bore of the 4 1/2 inch barrel is excellent and mirror bright, with sharp rifling and no signs of pitting or wear. The walnut grips are excellent and undamaged, and show only a little wear on the right side. Pre-1893 Belgian proofs, SN 1827, rated excellent overall.

This one is in excellent condition. The nitro blue on the trigger and hammer is well visible and retains 95% of original blued finish. The action is strong and accurate, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly very little play on trigger pull. The bore of the 4 1/2 inch barrel is good and bright with strong rifling. The markings are sharp and defined throughout. The assembly numbers on the cylinder, crane and frame. The original grips are good and undamaged.​​ S/N 71799 History & Background This model is an important milestone in Colt handgun development, as it is the first American revolver with a swing-out cylinder mounted on a crane, a development which would become the standard for modern revolvers to this day. The 1889 cylinder mechanism was already "on the books" as early as 1880, based on designs of Colt engineers William Mason, C.J Ehbets and Horace Lord. It would take almost ten years for Colt executives to give the green light to manufacture this gun, and once it was available, the US government quickly took notice and ordered several thousand for the Navy. Colt adopted the name "New Navy" in honor of this order. The gun has an interesting counter-clockwise cylinder rotation and a locking mechanism which relies entirely on the two-pronged hand. The 1889 model would remain in production for 18 years, with significant improvements in 1892, 94, 95, 96, 1901 and 1903. When it was first introduced in 1889, it met with no competition from the other major makers - Smith & Wesson were still heavily engaged in manufacturing top-break revolvers, and Remington only had their solid frame revolvers with removable cylinders to offer. It would take S&W another ten years before they had a viable alternative to Colt's design.
