Up for sale is a Winchester model 70 called " The Westerner " . The rifle  is actually engraved from the factory "The Westerner".   I have done research and can't seem to find anything out about what why these were made or what it meant. They seem to be extremely hard to come by.  This rifle is in excellent shape and has seen hardly any use. It's in easy to get ammo .243. It has a very smooth action and has a blind 5 round mag that opens from the bottom to empty out.  The wood is beautiful  with some marks. I have taken some pictures to show it.  It comes with the rings , bases and a Simmons 3x9x40  scope mounted and sighted but should be fined tuned to your preference.  From my research the " Westerner " rifles are fitted with a 2 inch longer barrel, scroll work done on the receiver, checkering done in the stock . Not pressed checkering , actual checkering. A different lighter colored wood, then the usual dark wood stock of Winchester. I do not want to get messages that this is a low end $ 700 Winchester as that is not the case. You will be ignored with EXTREME PREJUDICE! I'm allergic to STUPID, and I break out in SARCASM. So you have been warned. The asking price is $1500 + shipping obo. The pictures don't do this rifle justice as she really I a beautiful rifle.  You can try trades. Up for sale is a Rem 700 long action chambered in 300 Winchester Magnum. Less than 100 rounds down the barrel, I was going to use it for a course but didn't think I'd live through 2 straight days of that recoil lol. It's been in the safe since, a couple years. A few light scratches on the barrel and stock from moving things around in the safe, otherwise good condition. I have rings for another $50 if you want them; they came with the rifle and an original scope on it that's not included in this. Not sure of the brand; it's whatever was packaged with it. Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action 38-55. Date 1909 The stock was varnished at some point. The wood on forearm and butt stock is very good with just some minor bangs from use. Original curved steel recoil butt plate is in place. The bluing on barrel, magazine and lever is approximately 75% and the receiver is < 10%. The metal is good but has some minor scratches, etc. and evidence of minor surface rusting. The non-load side of the received looks like course steel wool was used on it. Buck horn sights are in excellent condition and period correct. The barrel is 26” with a full magazine, and the muzzle looks good. Bore is polished & shiny and shows very minor past corrosion, probably from black powder use. Rifling is in good condition. Screws have been used but are in very good condition. All lettering and the serial number are crisp and clear. Operationally everything checks out. The trigger is good. The firing pin extends out when pushed, The cartridge lifter works well and the ejector is tight. Spring on loading port is tight. Half cock safety works and hold when bumped, when at full cock or fire ready the hammer does not fall when bumped. Overall, this firearm is graded as good. A good addition to any collection. Winchester Model 1894 Ref #1041. Early five digit serial number. Dated 1897. This Winchester is a lever action, sporting rifle, octagon barrel, full mag. Dated 1897 Stock is excellent, appears original. A few marks. Original metal recoil pad fits well. Barrel is 26” long with sights intact. The read sights are intact and appear original. Bore is very nice, no obvious corrosion, does not appear to have ever seen black powder. Rifling throughout. Bluing is 40-50%. There are bumps and scratches on metal expected on a plus 125-year-old firearm. The drivers side receiver has a few light scratches and bangs. Screws have been used but are still usable. There is one on the loading port side that may have been a replacement. The lever functions well, safety checks out and the trigger pull, and drop are good. Firing pin is evident and protrudes when pushed on. Ejector is intact and tight, and magazine follower functions correctly.  Overall, I grade this firearm as good and should be fully functional. I don’t see many from this time frame with bores looking this good. I did not test with snap caps or fire. Only reasonable offers are considered. Low ball offers will not be responded to. Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action 32-40 Ref #1043 This firearm comes with a Winchester letter indicating it was originally an Octagon barrel, it has however been rebarreled to a round barrel which is marked Model 94. The action is a Model 1894. The butt stock is near perfect, the forend has two hairline cracks that had been professionally repaired at one time, probably when rebarreled. The finish is period correct. Original curved steel recoil butt plate is in place. The bluing on barrel, magazine and lever is approximately 75% and the receiver is 20%. Barrel is 26” with a 2/3 magazine, and the muzzle looks excellent. The metal is excellent with no dings, scratches, etc. There is no rust or corrosion evident. A few rub marks on the right side of action. Sights are in excellent condition and period correct. Bore is clean and does not appear to have seen black powder, there is no corrosion, it’s nice and shiney, with rifling in good condition. Screws have been used but are in very good condition. All lettering and the serial number are crisp and clear. Operationally everything checks out. The trigger is good. The firing pin extends out when pushed, The cartridge lifter works well and the ejector is tight. Spring on loading port is tight.
