This ORIGINAL 1895 Marlin rifle was shipped from the New Haven, Connecticut factory on Apr. 29, 1903. Solidly built for the larger calibers, this one in 38-56 cal. and is in NRA fine condition. The receiver now appears as silver although its original case hardening pattern can still be made out. The rest of the metal has taken on a brownish patina. All numbers and lettering are sharp and legible. The barrel a 26 inch long smokeless steel SPECIAL order half round, half octagon version, with a 1/2 magazine. The bore is good with intact rifling and a bit of shine. The wood is a SPECIAL order walnut with a beautiful grain pattern on both the forearm as well as the butt stock. While no longer factory available the 38-56 caliber is equivalent to the 35 Rem. Reloading components are available from various sources. Marlin only produced only 18,000 Model 1895's, in contrast to Winchester producing 160,000 model 1886's which was the Marlin's counterpart and competition. This alone makes the Marlin a comparatively rare firearm. Factory Letter is included. All components that are numbered have been determined to be Matching! This includes the extra fancy stocks which do not show up in the letter. The purchaser will assume all shipping costs as well as any desired insurance. Please respond via email. Winchester Model 1886 Sporting Rifle in 33W.C.F. Ref #1033 Winchester Model 1886 Sporting Rifle in 33W.C.F. with 24" round barrel, lever action dated 1910. Factory wood is very good at 98%, stock appears to have been varnished. Bluing is near zero on receiver, barrel and magazine app. 75%. Screws all look excellent. Original sights fully intact. Bore has rifling top to bottom with typical black powder corrosion. No repairs, alterations or additions. Operationally everything appears to be good. Cycles well, strong hammer spring and safety works. Only reasonable offers are considered. Low ball offers will not be responded to. Trades in person only. Here's a Winchester Model 1886 lever-action repeating rifle chambered in 45-70 Govt., Octagonal barrel manufactured in 1889. Gun was designed by John Browning to handle some of the more powerful cartridges of the period. The chamber, bore and rifling are all in really good shape.
