Pre-WW1 British Pattern 1821 Canadian Artillery Officer's Sword – no Scabbard Savage and Lyman Montreal Sword This company name was used by the Montreal silversmiths Savage and Lyman between 1868-1878. The left side of the blade immediately in front of the guard Is marked Savage & Lyman Montreal Within the engraving on the left side is a Crown.  Believed to be indicative of Queen Victoria. The right side of the blade has a small brass insert which says PROOF.  Wilkinson Sword introduced these Proof Discs in 1844. In the engraving on the right side of the blade is the word ARTILLERY The guard is steel and has fish skin wire bound grips with most of the fish skin having been worn away.   Length of Sword – 40 1/2” Length of Grip including the Guard – 5 1/2” Blade Length – 34 1/2”   Savage & Lyman Montreal (or Savage & Lyman and Company) were manufacturers and suppliers of swords, known for military pattern swords like those for Canadian militia units (e.g., 1st Battalion Chasseurs Canadiens), marking them as producers/sellers, though like many firms, they likely had blades forged elsewhere (perhaps by specialists like J. Martin in Montreal) and then finished, hilted, proofed, and sold by Savage & Lyman in Montreal, a common practice for armsmakers then.  Key Points: Evidence of Manufacturing: Swords clearly marked "SAVAGE & LYMAN MONTREAL" exist in museum collections, showing they were a recognized name in arms. Role: They functioned as an arms dealer and supplier, customizing and selling weapons for Canadian military and militia. Production vs. Supply: While they might not have forged every single blade from raw steel in-house, they were responsible for the final product, including proofing and adding their own markings, as seen on a 1885 Chasseurs Canadiens sword. This 1860 Colt Army .44 was built in 1862 and retains all its original numbers on the wedge,arbor pin,under barrel,front of trigger guard x2,cylinder 1850, on the grips underneath the back strap,on the grip frame. The 8” barrel has strong rifling and freckled pitting with an 80%+ shiny bore,it retains a strong 3 click hammer with tight lockup and perfect timing and indexing. The original grips show a clear military cartouche,and are damage and repair free,cylinders are clean and nipples are in VG crack free and distortion free condtion. 4 main build variants of this Model between 1860-1873 were distinguishable by the addition of a 4th screw on the left side of the receiver and a notch in the bottom of the grip frame allowing for a shoulder stock,to convert it to a usable carbine revolver which clearly shows in the pics provided. The barrel shows partial remains of “ADDRESS COL. SAM’L COLT NEW-YORK US AMERICA “ Above the trigger guard on the left side of the receiver is stamped “COLTS PATENT”, cylinder stamped PATENT 1850. The uniqueness of this particular Colt is that this revolver was built during the years of the Civil War and was likely nickel plated post Civil War by either a civilian or a surviving soldier. Presentation Nickel revolvers were widely known to be presented to Commissioned Officers of High ranking,this revolver retains 50%+ of its original nickel. It’s not flaking only wearing naturally through use and time,and still very stable with no deterioration. I have up for sale a US Model of 1917 Eddystone in 30:06. It's in fair condition. Barrel is bright and shiny. The stock is cracked above the trigger opposite the bolt. Not sure what happened to it. Has the original cleaning kit in the stock. Still shoots fine. This came as a package deal. If this ad is still up, then item is available! For Sale - 1894 Winchester rifle in 38-55 cal. with round 26” barrel. Started out at $1200 Now $950 (as of Dec 15th) According to the serial number 161XXX, it puts the date of manufacturing to 1902, crescent butt plate, semi-buckhorn rear sight, all original except rear sight elevator is a replacement. Round 26" barrel, dark bore, good rifling, approx. 20% plum finish remains with lacquering on some of the metal. Dark walnut forend & stock (original) with the stock having a small piece missing from the left side and about a 1.25" old crack on the wood right side both near the bottom of the tang/guard (pictures are attached) but stock is still mounted solid to the tang. Action is still quite tight for it's age and old sling swivels had been added to the rifle at some point in it's younger years. Must have valid PAL to purchase and will be verified. EMT (shipped) or cash(pickup) - Shipping and/or insurance available at buyers expense thru Canada Post or a courier. Rear stock can be removed for transport. No trades or offers
