They are compatible with both piston systems and gas tubes. The handguards are Mlock compatible to allow for customization while keeping the weight down. The HG handguards work well with the Specter Arms S8 linear compensator and the assortment of after market barrels that we offer. (Please see the S8/S9 ad pictures for some examples). The handguards are free floated for accuracy and clamp on to the receiver using a sturdy steel barrel nut. Be careful of cheap imitations that use an aluminum nut. Lengths of 11" and 12" available.
