Want a new optic, and want to buy Canadian? There's a new option for Canadian glass, sort of: Apex Optics is based in Calgary, but its scopes are actually manufactured in Japan. Apex Optics was founded in early 2020 by a group of western shooters from a range of competitive disciplines. Their goal was to create a new optics brand for competition and long-range shooting reflecting their backgrounds (IPSC, Steel Challenge, 3-Gun, Precision Rimfire, Extreme Long Range, etc.). Several of these shooters are well-known in the west's shooting scene, with long history of competition. Apex's first release will be the Rival 4-32x56 mm, which it's been developing for about 18 months. Apex partnered with Japan Optics to actually manufacture the scope, although it's designed here in Canuckistan. The scopes also undergo quality control testing in Japan, and a secondary round of quality control in Calgary. This scope has some unique features due to its design process, including Apex's proprietary CLR competition reticle. This first focal plane reticle is designed for long-range matches where shooters need their scope to handle quick transitions, with top half of the reticle unobstructed. It comes with ranging marks, for scenarios where you can't use electronic rangefinders, and has six-level illuminated main stadia. You can see a full explanation of the CLR reticle design at Apex's website. The scope also comes with elevation turret that features 15 MILs per revolution; windage and elevation adjustments are 0.1 MIL per click. The turrets are not locking, but come with mechanical zero stop and two-turn indicators (future scopes may come with locking turrets). There's a stainless steel pop-up turn indicator. Apex says it has the industry's first see-through integrated and removable throw lever. The new Rival scope has parallax knob indicators for approximate value for 100-, 200-, 500-, and 800-yard distances. There's a proprietary hydrophobic seven-layer multi-coated lens, and other features selected to give Apex's customers top performance. VKT (Valmet), or the State Rifle Factory became operational September 9, 1928. Since 1930 Valmet's factory rifle club was active as well, having their hand in the design of the Finnish Lion, together with Aimo Lahti, the chief designer. 2. The Finnish Lion has the longest manufacturing time of all Finnish guns, from 1930 to 1979. Models are: M30 (prototype), M31 mod I, mod IIa, IIb, IVb, IVc, M35, M45, M52, M55, M59, M62, M65, M70, M200002 (Finnish Lion Standard) and wild boar version. Many Czech produced post-war Mausers were made with mostly late war and some newly produced parts. These were sold to various different militaries and on the commercial market many and of these were sold to the Israelis as well. The rifle features many late war stamped parts including the oversized winter trigger guard but does include a half size cleaning rod unlike the Kriegsmodell K98's produced by the Germans. It does not have a stock disk, as it just has a hole drilled in the butt cap for disassembly of the bolt. This particular example has a low serial number, but the serial number ranges are all over because of different contracts. The whole gun matches with the new forced match serial number. It has a scrubbed receiver, and has a beech wood stock and handguard in a nice brown color. The rifle bore is actually in very good shape, but there is some stubborn fouling stuck in there and I don't have a 32 Caliber cleaning brush to remove it but I'm sure if you use the proper brush it should come out pretty easy since it's not rust. Just shooting the rifle might even remove it. The muzzle crown is an excellent condition as pictured. The rifle does have minor some stock damage. It looks like a vice dent or some sort of hammering pattern, but it's only on the one side (pictured). Overall the gun is in very good original condition and the action is nice and smooth and it is unfired by me. This is a nice unique example of a k98 made by Brno, who is very well known for their quality produced firearms. The rifle is located in Calgary AB for local delivery or pickup. Or I can ship it nationwide on the buyer's dime. If you live in Alberta I do get around the province a fair bit throughout the year, so if I happen to be heading to your area maybe we can do a meet up along the way on my travels to save you the shipping costs. PAL will be verified as per C-71.

It has an engraving on the stock because I never planned on selling it but sadly I must.
