British Pattern 1853 socket bayonet with leather scabbard This is a British M1853 Socket Bayonet for use with the Enfield, Snider, Martini rifles. This 1853 pattern was the standard bayonet carried by nearly every British infantryman of the mid-19th century and widely used during the Crimean War, Indian Mutiny, and in numerous colonial campaigns. Production of the1853 pattern socket bayonet continued throughout the life of the Enfield Muzzleloader and the Snider rifle and was finally terminated in 1875. The blade has a slight downward curve to allow easier reloading while fixed to the muzzle-loading Enfield rifle. Measuring 44 cm (17 inches), it features a triangular cross-section with fullers on all three sides, tapering to a narrow, down-turned point. The blade is in good solid condition but is badly tarnished. The scabbard is in fair condition. The bottom brass below the frog hook is pulled free from the leather scabbard. The brass tip on the scabbard wiggles a bit but is still solidly attached. The stitching on the scabbard in the last 3 ½” above the end cap is partially missing but the scabbard is solid and not separating. The scabbard is stamped W.D. (War Department) below the frog stud with the Broad Arrow symbol above the initials. This stamping is difficult to see. Howdy Townpost! I've gotten my hands on some stubby steelies! These are new production Yugoslavian military patterned magazines made in Croatia. These are well made and the milling was done well too. These are all properly pinned to 5 rounds. And are nice for hunting with a shorter mag or hauling it around with a shorter and lighter mag when compared to standard a 5/30 rounder. These magazines will also work with an AK magazine coupler (I have these for sale for $20). Which for an SKS-D some plastic on the coupler must be removed first. The M10X should work with a coupler without issues the same goes for the WK-181 and modded mags in the Type-81. These can be modified to fit into a Type-81. I also have modded mags for sale which are $55 each. I am the only seller who has these Croatian 5/10's in Canada. Even the crappy Gen.1 KCI 5/10's are out of stock practically everywhere in Canada. This is a limited run, so don't miss out. The mags are $40 each. The mags will come in a plastic bag in preserving oil that can be easily cleaned up with any degreaser or simply hot water and dish soap in your kitchen sink with a quick scrub and then dried. It's a good idea too to apply a light coat of gun oil. A single drop rubbed across the entire mag is enough. These mags will fit in the SKS-D, the M10X series, and they might require some hand fitting to work in the WK-181, since Kodiak designed those things with odd magwell dimensions with PMAGS in mind. In all likelihood though, they will work out of the box for you. The magazines are located in SW Calgary and can be picked up anytime. I am also happy to ship nationwide, this is of course at the buyer's expense. Shipping within my region will cost $13-15, and nationwide elsewhere is $18.89 flat rate.
