Swiss Schmidt-Rubin 1889 Antique Sporter – Strong Rifling – 7.5x53.5

For sale is a sporterized Swiss Model 1889 straight-pull rifle. This is a classic piece of Swiss engineering and a great entry point for someone looking to shoot vintage Schmidt-Rubin actions.

Everything except the removable magazine has a matching serial number, including the sporterized stock (number is on the inside), butt plate and rear adjustable sights.

Based on the serial number, it was manufactured in 1892, making it 134 years old. It also makes it an antique (pre 1898).

Highlights:

• Bore: Remarkably strong rifling for its age (see photos). No major pitting, just some light frosting consistent with age.

• Action: Smooth straight-pull action. Bolt is complete with the original Bakelite/rubber handle intact.

• Condition: Sporterized stock with a nice walnut grain. Metal has some honest patina and surface peppering, but has been stabilized and oiled.

• Caliber: Chambered in 7.5x53.5mm (GP90). Note:This is NOT for use with modern 7.5x55 GP11 surplus ammo.

Perfect candidate for a winter project, a bush gun, or a dedicated cast-bullet reloader.
