1896 303 British Sparkbrook MLM Magazine Lee Metford MkII* Sporter 22.5" w/ 10 Rnd Mag

Vintage 1896 MLM Mk2 Sporter. Classic lines, the same as a lot of the Lee Speed commercial rifles but without the fancy engraving and the extra cost. This rifle started out as a Lee Metford Mk2 and was later upgraded with the * when the Safety fitted bolt was installed, possibly explaining the mismatched serial number.

Matching serials on action, barrel and rear sight. Classic Metford 7 shallow rounded groove rifling. Developed for Black Powder than later rated for modern smokeless powder. They are supposed to be quite accurate. This rifle has had the barrel milled & tapered to give it more of carbine profile. 

The bolt has had its bolt cover lugs removed when it was sported, giving it a sleek look.

22 1/2" barrel muzzle to knox. Proper muzzle crown, not a hacksaw job. Metford rifling is still well pronounced with no pitting.
