This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write. Due to unexpected life circumstances, I have made the heartbreaking decision to find a forever home for my beloved golden retriever. I originally hoped to find a temporary foster while I got back on my feet, but because I’m unsure how long that may take, I believe the most loving and fair thing for her is to find a stable forever home where she won’t have to move around or feel confused.

She will be 6 years old this June, female, spayed and microchipped. Unfortunately I cannot locate her original vet paperwork, so I would recommend that her new family updates her vaccinations after adoption.

She is a very loving, affectionate golden retriever with lots of energy. She truly is a big baby who loves people and being around her family. She has lived with a Shih Tzu her whole life, so she is used to having another dog around. Ideally, her new home would already have a friendly dog companion.

A few important things about her:

  • Very sweet, affectionate personality

  • High energy and loves being outside

  • Has not been properly trained with commands

  • Not great on leash (we usually walked her off-leash)

  • Best suited for families with children 10+ years old because of her size and energy

  • Would do best in a home with a yard, acreage, or farm

I care deeply about where she goes, so I will be very careful choosing her new home. There will be a $300 adoption feeafter meeting her. This is not about money, but about ensuring she goes to a serious and loving home.

What I’m looking for in her new home:

  • Responsible, loving owners who understand golden retrievers

  • A home with a yard or lots of outdoor space (farm/acreage is a big plus)

  • Preferably another friendly dog

  • Someone willing to share occasional updates or photos so I know she is happy

If you think you could give her the loving, stable home she deserves, please tell me a bit about:

  • Your living situation (house, yard, acreage, etc.)

  • Whether you have other pets

  • Your experience with dogs

  • Your household members

This decision is truly heartbreaking for me, and I want to make sure she finds the perfect family who will love her as much as I do.
