This ORIGINAL 1895 Marlin rifle was shipped from the New Haven, Connecticut factory on Apr. 29, 1903. Solidly built for the larger calibers, this one in 38-56 cal. and is in NRA fine condition. The receiver now appears as silver although its original case hardening pattern can still be made out. The rest of the metal has taken on a brownish patina. All numbers and lettering are sharp and legible. The barrel a 26 inch long smokeless steel SPECIAL order half round, half octagon version, with a 1/2 magazine. The bore is good with intact rifling and a bit of shine. The wood is a SPECIAL order walnut with a beautiful grain pattern on both the forearm as well as the butt stock. While no longer factory available the 38-56 caliber is equivalent to the 35 Rem. Reloading components are available from various sources. Marlin only produced only 18,000 Model 1895's, in contrast to Winchester producing 160,000 model 1886's which was the Marlin's counterpart and competition. This alone makes the Marlin a comparatively rare firearm. Factory Letter is included. All components that are numbered have been determined to be Matching! This includes the extra fancy stocks which do not show up in the letter. The purchaser will assume all shipping costs as well as any desired insurance. Please respond via email. Up for sale is a Rem 700 long action chambered in 300 Winchester Magnum. Less than 100 rounds down the barrel, I was going to use it for a course but didn't think I'd live through 2 straight days of that recoil lol. It's been in the safe since, a couple years. A few light scratches on the barrel and stock from moving things around in the safe, otherwise good condition. I have rings for another $50 if you want them; they came with the rifle and an original scope on it that's not included in this. Not sure of the brand; it's whatever was packaged with it. This scope is essentially new, unmarked in perfect condition, with the original box, pamphlets, all accessories. Suitable for a a 20 gauge shotgun/243 Winchester or less in terms of recoil.
