TownPost Search Tips and More Relevant results

Check TownPost Search Tricks to get better search results. OR Try Google Powered Search

The TownPost search engine is a full-text search, meaning it will attempt to find results using any of the words you type. This is good for finding more results similar to what you are looking for but will also return more irrelevant results. Here are some tips to filter search results.

Just use important words

Bad Example: Used Guns for sale in Edmonton
Good Example: Guns Edmonton ✔️
The first search will also find ads containing the words "used", "for", "Sale" which will include many unwanted results

Use Plus Signs or the word "and" your search

Since the above example search of Guns Edmonton will return results containing both of those words, after several pages it will show you results with only one of those words. To fix this you can use plus signs in front of your words like this:
+Guns +Edmonton (This will only give you results containing both words.)

Another way to do this is by using the word "and" like this:
Guns and Edmonton

Use Minus signs to remove certain words

You can also use the subtraction sign in front of a word to exclude certain words. Maybe a certain user has tons of ads that come up when you do a specific search and you want to exclude them. Try this:
+Guns +Edmonton -Annoyingdude99
This search would show you all Items containing the first 2 words but exclude any posts by "Annoyingdude99"

Filter by Province/Town

Once you do a search you will see a "Filter by Town" option on the right-hand side or bottom of your search where you can click to restrict your results by Province and then further to a specific town. This is the easiest & best way to search by area.
