This is an original U.S. military M1916 hip holster designed for the Colt M1911 or M1911A1 .45 ACP pistol, widely issued during World War II (and earlier in WWI). Key Identifying Features •  Embossed “US” in an oval on the flap (standard for U.S. Army-issue holsters). •  Brown leather construction. •  Brass flap stud. •  Belt hook on the reverse. •  Leg tie-down thong (the rawhide or leather lanyard loop at the bottom). This shows honest wear (scuffs, dryness, some cracking, and patina), which is consistent with wartime use rather than a modern reproduction (repros are usually cleaner and often explicitly marked as such). Brass finish all shows very well, light handling marks here and there. Woods stocks show very well, one or two very small blemishes. Bore is excellent. Comes topped with its original iron sights.
