The action is strong and accurate, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly without play. The bore of the 5-inch barrel is very good, with sharp rifling and mirror bright. The rosewood grips are very good and undamaged. They look like they may have been re-varnished once. SN 59474, very good overall. History & Background Horace Smith and Daniel Baird Wesson acquired Rollin White’s patent (1855) for the bored-through cylinder to manufacture what they originally called the No. 1 revolver in .22 rim fire. It proved to be a rather ineffective little pocket revolver but was nonetheless very popular with civilians as a personal protective weapon. In 1861, just as the civil war gained momentum, S&W decided that they needed a larger caliber revolver in order to be able to convince the buying public (many of them enlisted in the war) that their gun was a viable protective option and as a back-up gun in battle. The scaled-up design was duly named the No. 2 and was nicknamed the “Army”, as it was widely used by military personnel as a personal side arm. Smith & Wesson retained and defended the Rollin White patent aggressively throughout the civil war period, and until its expiry in 1870, and therefore the No. 2 “Army” would be the only American made cartridge revolver used during this conflict (although several “unlicensed” makers added their wares into the fray, such as Uhlinger, Pond and Moore). The model is called “Old Model” due to its frame shape – the square butt and octagonal barrel of the model 1 ½ First Issue, as compared to the bird’s head grip and round barrel of the Second Issue. There is no “New Model” Army. The "No. 2 Old Model" was a popular personal side arm of many officers in the Union forces during the American Civil War, and is also known as the "Army" model. It was first introduced in 1861, and made until about 1874. The "No. 2" refers to the frame size, "No. 1" having been the first, .22 caliber pocket revolver and the "No. 3"'s being the large-frame revolvers. The 1 1/2 was introduced after the number 2, and since it fits in between the no. 1 and no. 2, it was named the no. 1 1/2. The no. 2 was owned by such famous Americans as General George Armstrong Custer and "Wild Bill" Hickok, the marshal of Deadwood...

Selling to get some cash flow, this is an antique, all matching and fully operational Smith & Wesson top break double action new model #3 revolver. These were the first double action guns ever made by S&W, driven by demand to increase rapid performance at close quarters while still having the choice to shoot with more accuracy in single action. These were mostly chambered in the popular .44 Russian round. These can be purchased in cowboy loads from myself as part of the deal, found online, or easily reloaded with .44 russian, magnum, or special brass. As an antique, this handgun requires no licensing or registration to buy or own in Canada. Do your own legal research! This gun is serial number 35XXX, dating its manufacture to the late 1880s. As a nearly 140 year old gun, the mechanical condition is strong, with all three positions of the hammer exactly as desired and both single and double action trigger pulls nice and light. Indexing is reliable with a lockup of both the cylinder and the top break hatch having less than 1mm wiggle room. The original hard black grips are still sturdy and nice. The 6 inch barrel on this bad boy still has loads of accurate lead to deliver. Ejector functions perfectly. Visually, the overall look is a peppered patina. Very little of the original nickel remains, with a mottled "in the white" surface being most dominant. No severe or active oxidation can be found. All of the two line address and patent info are clearly visible on the top strap, with the S&W stylized logo featured strongly on the right side. For sale is my a mechanically great, all matching, 1880 production short barrel "Shopkeeper" Colt Thunderer in .41 LC. Selling because cash is tight. As an Antique, this handgun is exempt from Canadian licensing and registration requirements, and can be used anywhere a nonrestricted firearm would be legal. Black powder or light load smokeless .41 Long Colt rounds can be purchased online or worked into deal. The 1877 line of revolvers was Colt's first double action model ever produced. They made almost 170,000 from 1877 to 1909 with three main designations: the Colt "Lightning" in .38 LC, the "Thunderer" in .41 LC, and the "Rainmaker" in .32. However, due to Canada's laws, only the .41 caliber ones are designated as "antique". This is luckily one of those guns, and it needs no registration or licensing to own. These models are highly collectible handguns, particularly the short barrelled "Shopkeeper" model due to its easy to stow nature. Arizona Wild West gunslinger Doc Holiday carried one of these. This particular example, SN 22261, was produced rather early in 1880 and has a short but accurate 3.5" barrel. All parts match, and the exterior retains an excellent 85% of the original nickel. The internal mechanics are incredibly clean and original. The bore is fair with strong defined rifling. Grips are nice like-new repros with rampaging Colt medallions. All hammer clicks are present, lockup is rock solid, and the trigger pull is pleasant in both SA and DA. The barrel is stamped with the Hartford Connecticut Colt address and the acid etched "COLT D.A. 41" is still visible. The left side of the frame displays the 3 line 1871, 1874, and 1875 patents. It reads "41 CAL" on the trigger guard. *Sold* Parting with my Colt 1878 revolver. She's single and double action, chambered in .476 Eley which is interchangeable with .455 Webley. These revolvers were most commonly chambered in .44-40 Winchester and dubbed the "Frontier Model", with the .476 chambering being very scarce. They were introduced in 1878 as a larger frame, larger caliber twist on the new Colt 1877 Thunderer/Lightning model, filling a niche most similar to the 1873 Single Action Army, but this time in double action as well. Selling to clear up some moolah for car repairs. Pre-1898 Canada legal antique. This revolver was made in 1885. It has the desirable Pall Mall one line address on the barrel reading "COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. DEPOT 14. PALL MALL LONDON" with most words still visible. This address is a rarity and was only put on guns intended for the European markets. Serials match 15xxx, with the last 3 digits stamped on the cylinder. The loading gate is a replacement. This gorgeous revolver has an extremely nice black finish with shiny nickeled highlights on the hammer, trigger, and hammer screw. The visual condition speaks for itself. A stunning piece sure to catch eyes, and assurance that the metal will remain protected. The rifling is still strong and defined, showing some scattered frosting. The grips appear original, and are sturdy with minor holster wear on the high points from time on the hip. The action is great. The internals are shiny in factory condition. The cylinder locks up airtight at firing position. I have never seen an 1878 or 1877 with tighter lockup. In the unique fashion of the 1878 model design, this revolver has no cylinder stop allowing slight backrotation when you disengage the action, but it still generally cycles. Price drop from 3650 Dec 1! This is an incredibly rare antique Unwin & Rodgers NON-XLL folding knife pistol from the mid-1800s, chambered in a 28 caliber rimfire. Based on dimensions it should accept 25 Stevens rimfire. This is a pocket knife to put all Swiss Army knives to shame, packing a big punch with a folding trigger single action handgun. It is a very collectible piece, and hard to come by in this condition. It would have probably been owned or given as a gift to a relatively wealthy businessman as an elegant approach to utility and self defense. In the 1841 Sheffield trade directory, Unwin and Rodgers advertised themselves as “manufacturers of spring knife cutlery, including lancets, scissor knives and pen machines, pistol knives, American and Indian hunting and self-defense knives.” The theory is that the NON*XLL markings, when read aloud, translate into the phrase “Non-excel,” signifying that the Unwin and Rodgers knife pistol had no peers. This British made knife pistol is in beautiful condition, with the steel in amazing condition on both the blades and the barrel also. It has carved horn grips, a beautiful shiny barrel, and an even sheen on the knives with no rust. Where many old knives have been sharpened and worn down over the decades, the blade profiles are still original and incredibly sharp. The left grip has a small crack where the rivets are, but it is still very stable and solid. It has multiple Birmingham proofs, and is signed on both blades. The trigger and both knives fold and unfold very cleanly. It is about 10 inches long when the knives are opened. The mainspring is very strong, and all functions correctly in the action and ejector. It has a storage compartment for keeping shells, cleaning patches, and spent casings. The blades are in fantastic shape, especially at over 160 years old. Howdy Townpost! I'm looking to sell my rare bird antique revolver. Husqvarna made 13,619 model 1887 revolvers over the course of 9 years between 1897 and 1905. Of those only 350 were made in 1897, and thus those are the only antique status Husqvarna model 1887s in Canada that are recognized by the RCMP CFP Lab Technicians. This is one of them, number 260. These are not common to say the least. These revolvers are chambered in the 7.5 mm Nagant cartridge. The chamber dimensions are essentially almost identical to the 7.5 Swiss revolver cartridge used in their model 1882s. So you can make proper brass and the proper dimensional cartridge for this gun using either .32-20 Winchester, .25-20 Winchester, 7.62mm Nagant (1895), or 8mm Lebel Revolver brass as parent cases. I have some virgin 7.62 Nagant brass that I'll throw in as a freebie to the buyer and there's like 50 pieces in this bag. Or the more expedient way to shoot this gun is to shoot 32 Smith & Wesson long or short as an inexpensive and smokeless off the shelf ammunition. This is commonly done in Switzerland with Swiss model 1882 revolvers, and given that this has almost essentially identical chamber dimensions (they Husqys are actually little a bit tighter) you can do the same. So I decided to give it a whirl with the .32 S&W and was actually very pleasantly surprised by my results. My best three round group at 25 yards with PPU .32 Smith and Wesson Long with round nose lead bullets was 2 inches. Those were the first three rounds I fired through the revolver but the three following rounds in the same cylinder opened up to a 5 inch group as the barrel heated up. I still have the target and can provide a photo of it upon request. I imagine any almost any .32 Smith & Wesson standard velocity factory ammunition would be fine to shoot in this except Sellier & Bellot because it has a fairly small diameter rim diameter and the rounds sink into the chamber and will not headspace properly and the hammer can't reach them. One in five cases bulges and splits open, but the majority of rounds fired essentially fire form to the chamber and could be possibly reloaded in my opinion. Overall the ammunition performs surprisingly well for being how undersized it is and as long as you use lead bullets or maybe a hollow-based jacketed bullet, the bullet will expand and grab the rifling and stabilize very well and achieve good accuracy. The revolver is all matching except for three parts. The cylinder is an unserialized replacement. The trigger guard and the side plate are also replacements in the 4200 SN# range. The chambres and bore are all in excellent condition. There is one spot of extremely shallow corrosion sot in the bore and that is pictured. Beyond that, the bore is sharp with tall lands and is mirror shiny. And all of the chambers are very clean and shiny as well. They are also pictured. Overall the gun is in very good condition the most noticeable wear is on the color case hardening that is on the loading gate trigger and loading gate spring. The non-matching side plate was reblued to more closely match the original blue on the frame. I will include a little document dossier I've put together in a binder that provides documentation on this firearm. It includes a copy of the Firearms reference table entry or FRN, a copy of the regulations prescribing antique firearms, and some copies of emails I received from the RCMP lab technicians confirming their opinion of the antique legal status of this particular example SN#260 revolver that I received in order to import this firearm easily. So all of your legal bases are covered. The revolver is located in Calgary AB for local delivery or pickup. Or I can ship it nationwide on the buyer's dime. I can do Alberta meetups too. It depends on the time of year though and whereabouts. I too have video footage of me shooting this firearm with 32 Smith & Wesson ammunition and the target I used I just have to edit the clips together and upload them to YouTube. I haven't got around to doing that yet. I suspect the revolver will be sold before I get around to doing that, but I will upload that footage regardless for the buyer. But for now you'll have to take my word for it until I upload the video and if that's not good enough for you then you'll probably miss out on the sale cause it's exactly what happened with my .38 Special converted Colt model 1889 that's sold in less than 24 hours.

Howdy Townpost! I've got an Italian jewel for you to take a look at here. This is an Italian Bodeo model 1889. These guns are among my favorite antique revolvers. They are a very simple rugged and easy to maintain and repair Military revolvers with one of the coolest safety/loading systems as part of its design. These revolvers are very well designed, and feature the safety, loading/unloading system called the "Abadie System". This system was designed in Portugal, but many European late 19th century designs incorporated it. This particular example is an 1897 production by Glisenti at Brescia. Glisenti made Bodeos from 1891 to 1906. This is considered a tipo (type) A or an enlisted model. The type A had a folding trigger which was considered safer and was issued to enlisted men and the type B was the officer's model and had a trigger guard. This particular gun is considered a late model because it has an internal hammer block safety, which is dovetailed into the hand (pictured). The early model had a external hammer block safety that was prone to breakage. I've personally seen multiple antique examples with broken external hammer block safeties. So it was a good move from a design standpoint to change. The early models also were finished in the white in a similar manner to the French model 1873 Chamelot-Delvignes were. This example is of course blued like the overwhelming majority of the late models. This revolver is in excellent condition mechanically and has minimal wear overall. The grips are in excellent condition and we're refinished professionally. The chambres and bore are in excellent & minty condition as well. And the bore itself is one of the best I've ever seen on a Bodeo, with clean, sharp and shiny lands and grooves. This revolver chambres the 10.35mm Italian ordinance cartridge. This cartridge is very similar to .44 Russian but has a smaller diameter bullet (.422) and a slightly tapered chambre. I have seen these shot with .44-40 bullets that are .427 in diameter. These revolvers were loaded with smokeless from the get-go in 1890 using ballastite, a smokeless propellant. For an additional fee on top of the price I can have the chambres slightly reamed so that they will accept .44 Russian cartridges. That way you can buy an off-the-shelf ammunition without the need to hand load. However these are quite easy to hand load and source components for. This is an antique Wesson & Harrington No.3 Second Type Revolver. It is estimated that less than 1000 of these second type revolvers were produced from 1874to 1879. This has a 5 shot fluted cylinder and is chambered in .32 rimfire. The octagon barrel is 2-3/4” long with the barrel address reading “WESSON & HARRINGTON WORCHESTER, MASS. PAT. FEB.7 JUNE 13,71”. The barrel markings are sharp. This revolver retains around 85+% of its original finish. Fire blue can still be found on the cylinder pin. The rosewood grips are in near excellent condition. This is an Antique Harpers Ferry U.S. Model 1842 Smoothbore Percussion Musket. The overall length is 57-3/4” with a 42” long barrel and coming in at just under 10 pounds. This is a .69 caliber musket. These were designed in 1842 and were produced from 1844 to 1855, with this one being made in 1849. There is a partially visible eagle over US forward of the hammer. Rear of the hammer is the markings HARPERS FERRY 1849. Inspection marks can be found on the barrel near the breech and on the trigger guard. Overall condition is very good with a low amount of handling dings and a small crack in the wood by the butt plate. Mechanically in excellent condition with a strong action. The Model 1842 was the first U.S. musket to be produced with a percussion lock. It had an effective range of 100-300 yards and a maximum range of 400 yards. The 1842 was the last U.S. regulation .69 caliber musket. Many of these muskets later had the bores rifled and saw service in the American Civil War. This would make a great addition to any antique collection of would even be suited as a stand alone piece. This is an antique so no PAL is required for purchase. This is a Tranter Model 1863 Single Action Revolver Chambered in .455 centre fire. The majority of the model 1863’s were a double action with only a few hundred being produced in single action. Approximate serial number range for the single actions are between 4000 to 4500. This item being serial number 4010 would make it one of the first to be made of this model. The single actions were mostly produced in .442 rimfire, it is not known how many were produced in centre fire making this even more rare. This item has a 6-1/2” barrel with Cogswell & Harrison London retailer address engraved into it. Birmingham proof marks can be found on the barrel and frame. The firearm retains around 85% of the original finish. The checkered walnut grips are in excellent condition with a few very light dings. Mechanically it is in excellent condition and functions as it should. This is a very attractive English revolver that would fit well with any antique collection. this is an antique to no PAL is required for purchase. Buyer must be 18 or older and able to prove it. This is a Rare Antique Remington Early Production Type I, A.K.A. The Double Derringer. Remington produced around 150000 model 95’s between 1866 and 1935. There were only around 1600 produced before the addition of an extractor. Making this one the hardest to find for collectors. This type is marked “E.Remington & Sons, Ilion, N.Y.” on one side of the barrel rib and “Elliot’s Patent Dec. 12, 1865” on the other. Later models would see the addition of an extractor and the barrel address moved to the top rib. This has a 3” barrel, is chambered in .41 rimfire and has a spur trigger. There are a a few light handling dings and almost no original finish left. The grips are in fine condition. Mechanically it is still very strong with the action working and cycling as it should. The hinges are intact. There is a slight play in the lock up which would be a fraction of a millimeter. These were carried by many people in the Wild West as they were easily concealed. Wild Bill Hickok is said to have carried a pair of these at times. This would make a great addition to a Remington collection and could be the centre piece to any collection. this is an antique so no PAL is required for purchase.
