50th anniversary congratulatory message. These congratulatory messages are very rare because a 50th anniversary is a rare life milestone, paper documents degrade over the decades and congratulatory Nazi messages would often have been discarded after the fall of the regime. The German text reads: "I send you and your wife my warmest congratulations on the rare occasion of your golden wedding anniversary. I hope and wish that you may enjoy a long and untroubled retirement surrounded by your family. The Führer, Adolf Hitler." The Nazi eagle emblem and words "GOLDENEN HOCHZEIT" are rendered in gold ink and the Nazi eagle seal in the bottom left of the document is pressed into the paper. Howdy Townpost. I have a really interesting piece for you here. This is a conversion of a conversion rifle. This is a German made Ludwig Loewe Gew 88 that was later converted by the Germans into a Gew 88/05 and most likely given to the Ottomans in WWI as war aid. Many of these were retained and later converted in the 1930's to a Mauser 1935 pattern type rifle. They converted a large portion of their arsenal to this pattern including SMLE's a plethora of their different Mausers, and Gew 88's they had in inventory. This rifle was rebarreled to shoot the modern 8mm Mauser cartridge and re-stocked into a more Mauser-esq stock. This stock features Mauser bolt disassembly disks despite them not being required for the Gew 88 action. The stock on this particular example had a fairly large wood defect that the Turks neglected to address has been fixed. It was cleaned out and filled with Brownells Acraglas epoxy so it's rock solid now. The overall condition is good. The stock was professionally refinished. The bore is excellent, very sharp and clean rifling. The rifle is located in Calgary AB for pickup or I can ship it nationwide on the buyer's dime. PAL will be verified as per C-71

Many Czech produced post-war Mausers were made with mostly late war and some newly produced parts. These were sold to various different militaries and on the commercial market many and of these were sold to the Israelis as well. The rifle features many late war stamped parts including the oversized winter trigger guard but does include a half size cleaning rod unlike the Kriegsmodell K98's produced by the Germans. It does not have a stock disk, as it just has a hole drilled in the butt cap for disassembly of the bolt. This particular example has a low serial number, but the serial number ranges are all over because of different contracts. The whole gun matches with the new forced match serial number. It has a scrubbed receiver, and has a beech wood stock and handguard in a nice brown color. The rifle bore is actually in very good shape, but there is some stubborn fouling stuck in there and I don't have a 32 Caliber cleaning brush to remove it but I'm sure if you use the proper brush it should come out pretty easy since it's not rust. Just shooting the rifle might even remove it. The muzzle crown is an excellent condition as pictured. The rifle does have minor some stock damage. It looks like a vice dent or some sort of hammering pattern, but it's only on the one side (pictured). Overall the gun is in very good original condition and the action is nice and smooth and it is unfired by me. This is a nice unique example of a k98 made by Brno, who is very well known for their quality produced firearms. The rifle is located in Calgary AB for local delivery or pickup. Or I can ship it nationwide on the buyer's dime. If you live in Alberta I do get around the province a fair bit throughout the year, so if I happen to be heading to your area maybe we can do a meet up along the way on my travels to save you the shipping costs.
