Reloadable ammo is available but sold separately Comes with FRT RCMP paperwork. Smith & Wesson 44 New Model No. 3 Top Break, .44 Special / Russian Revolver. This one is in very good condition with longer 1 9/16 cylinder and can shoot both .44 Special and 44 Russian ammo. The action is strong and accurate, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly. The bore of the 6.5-inch barrel is quite good, with strong rifling. The black hard rubber grips are good and undamaged. Mechanically in excellent condition with proper timing and lockup. The latch is also solid with zero play. Extractor works as it should. SN 10438, very good overall. History & Background Smith and Wesson's first double action design dates back to at least 1872 - years before Colt ever attempted a double action cartridge revolver. It was mentioned in a letter to the Russian envoy General Orlof, and although the sale to Russia never materialized, it served to pave the way for the very popular and successful line of double action top break revolvers. The .44 Russian model was actually the first to be produced as a prototype, and the last to be released for sale to the public. For this reason there exists a degree of confusion over the proper terminology: the first one to be manufactured for sale was the .38 caliber model, followed by the .32. The .44 caliber model was not released until 1881, and is variably known as the No. 3 Double Action, the Double Action "Navy" (a name Daniel Wesson wanted to keep alive to differentiate this model from the No. 3 single action, and still holding out hope to sell it to the Russian navy), and the First Model Double Action. Originally, the .44 Double Action was made with a 1 7/16 inch cylinder, however an optional .44-40 version was available as of 1886. This required a 1 9/16 inch cylinder, and a longer frame. The firm soon realized that it was too expensive and cumbersome to manufacture two different sizes of frames for what was essentially the same gun, and the shorter cylinder and frame were dropped in favour of the longer one in the early 1890's. 2001 24ft Jayco travel trailer, 240A Quest model, sleeps 6 (with very tight overhead pull down for small person) or 5 big people normally, 3 way fridge and freezer, gas stove with oven and exhaust fan, AC or just fan( we rarely used AC just fan) u need 30-50 amp service for AC, we usually had 20amp service. 1 bunk bed in back with a single bed over storage drawers and clothes hanger rack (sleeps 3 back there)has accordian door to separate, toilet and shower that all work fine. lots of storage space under seats and tons of room for outdoor stuff in outside storage box at front of trailer. Stereo needs an upgrade to USP/MP3 inputs CD does not work, good sound other wise, antena. Has been resealed where required, lino in back room was cracked up so we took out replaced with rug. 2- 6 volt Batteries in series to make 12 volt, have been removed and charged for winter,good 4 tires with new spare, never went down. Wheel bearings where cleaned and repacked 3 years ago before we bought, 2 50lb propane bottles, outside shower, awning works good, Reason for selling; kids r getting older so we would like to sell or trade for smaller 16-20ft to take across Canada. I’ve ruined enough mags to know better than to try to fix it myself. The barrelled action was a satin finish that’s been Ceracoated. It has a Timney trigger and a Talley picatinny 0 degree rail, also two sets of different height 1” ULA proprietary rings also made by Talley. Includes two EB Rifleman 2.8-9X40 green anodized scopes with P4 reticle and target turrets, a wood M40 style stock that has a pillar bedded action and free floated barrel. The Kevlar stock is full length bedded including the barrel. Speaking of the barrel, it’s a 24” chrome/moly not stainless and it’s 0.660” at the muzzle, so it’s heavier than a standard barrel but it’s not as heavy as a varmint weight barrel. It’s for sale because I’m not going to make good use of it at my age. It’s only going to waste in the gun safe. Once again it is a left hand action. Condition and performance? Condition is Excellent and can it shoot? Absolutely. It’s not picky about ammo. Will shoot most standard velocity well, never tried high velocity and absolutely no Stingers. I believe they’ll cause problems due to the type of chamber. Besides, if you use Stingers you don’t need this type of rifle. If you have any other questions or need more photos, let me know.
