For Sale: Chiappa lever action 1892  in 44 MAG I’m the second owner of this rifle. Took it out to the range a couple of times at 100m—runs smooth, cycles clean, no issues at all. The first owner had it painted and mentioned these ones are pretty rare in Canada, holding 9 rounds instead of the usual 8 in the Trapper model. It also has a saddle ring, which is a nice touch on a ranch-style gun. It’s surplus to my needs now. Open to trades for a good mid- to long-range hunting rifle—something practical for real field use. I picked this up a while ago and have never used it. It was going to be my bug out gun but life changes and i need to downsize my collection. There is some pitting on the receiver. Bubbad metal work to fit the mag. Rifling looks good. Wartak skar sd-r scope rail. And AR magwell adapter. There is a bit of finish work that needs to be done. The ammo stovepipes unless you put a shim behind the mag then it cycles fine. Might be an easy fix if you have the right tools. Topped with a Burris fullfield 3-9x40 at the moment. $1500 for the rifle, magwell, rail and scope. 1500rd crate of Chinese corrosive. extra $500. One of the earliest makers of bulldog-type, double action revolvers, the Iver Johnson American Bull Dog is well known and in demand. These were made by Johnson's and the relief grip showing the American eagle on a shield is typical of Johnson's ware. ​ This one is in very fine to excellent condition, with 99% original nickel. The action is accurate and strong, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly with no play. The bore of the 2 1/2-inch barrel is good with strong rifling throughout. The black hard-rubber grips are excellent and undamaged. SN 2407, excellent overall. History & Background Iver Johnson (1841-1895) was a Norwegian gunsmith who came from Bergen to America in 1863. He found work immediately at Ethan Allen's factory in Worcester, Mass. where he met Martin Bye. Johnson worked at Allen's through the civil war years, as demand for firearms was high, and work was plentiful. By 1871 Johnson and Bye had decided to venture out on their own and founded Johnson Bye & Co. in Worcester, moving to Fitchburg by 1891. In 1883 Martin Bye left the company, selling his interest to Iver. The company name was changed to its most famous form, "Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works, Fitchburg, Mass.", a name it would retain until the outbreak of the First World War.
