Two Norwegian Elkhound puppies born October 16, 2024, and ready for new homes anytime now. In the pictures: One is a girl (the lighter coloured one) and one is a boy (the blacker one); the dog playing with the pups is the mom and the solo dog is the dad. They are all purebreds and this is the parents' first litter. This is a medium sized breed. Even though it might look a bit like a husky, they are not related. They are half the size and much more versatile, friendly, and trainable. They are not at all aggressive, but will let you know if anything or anyone strange shows up. This breed very suitable for outdoor living in Alberta and they could easily be outdoor dogs or indoor/outdoor dogs. They love the snow. Highly trainable, intelligent, versatile, playful, and friendly breed. Great with children and also other pets and livestock, if raised alongside them. Both parents are pure Norwegian Elkhounds that live outside on our farm, where we have chickens, sheep, horses, and a cat, and everyone gets along. The mother has started helping me out with sheep herding and is very responsive to instruction. We are looking to reduce our numbers and downsize our herd of sheep. We keep the sheep primarily for their wool and lawn-mowing capabilities. Many of them are considered triple purpose sheep, good for wool, dairy and meat. We have a variety of them available, mostly mixed breeds but also some purebreds. We have a mature, proven breeder purebred Icelandic ram available. And we have 2 purebred Icelandic ewes available, one is a yearling and the other is 2 years old. Both naturally polled. 3 yearling ewes who have never been bred (all are half Icelandic, sired by our purebred ram last year.) We have one of this year's ram lambs available and a couple of ewe lambs who could go on their own, or they can be sold along with their mothers. Ewe lambs and yearling ewes $350 each. Ram lamb $300. Our plan was to keep him a ram but we are keeping his sister and we mainly have hair sheep. We call him Gus. He’d be great for kids, he’s friendly and likes scratches.

I have a lovely Great Pyrenees puppy who is 7 months who was raised with sheep and is an excellent LGD. We love her but she is struggling with our children and really needs a farm with more animals and not be bothered by too many children. We got her at 6 months and missed her socialization window, unfortunately. She is great with all animals and protects them well. Alert barks. We are in Clive, AB area.
