British Pattern 1853 socket bayonet with leather scabbard and a frog This is a British M1853 Socket Bayonet for use with the Enfield, Snider, Martini rifles. This 1853 pattern was the standard bayonet carried by nearly every British infantryman of the mid-19th century and widely used during the Crimean War, Indian Mutiny, and in numerous colonial campaigns. Production of the1853 pattern socket bayonet continued throughout the life of the Enfield Muzzleloader and the Snider rifle and was finally terminated in 1875. The blade has a slight downward curve to allow easier reloading while fixed to the muzzle-loading Enfield rifle. Measuring 44 cm (17 inches), it features a triangular cross-section with fullers on all three sides, tapering to a narrow, down-turned point. Scabbard in good condition and includes a leather frog. The brass tip on the scabbard wiggles a bit but is still solidly attached. The scabbard is stamped W.D. (War Department) below the frog stud with the Broad Arrow symbol above the initials. For sale is a beautiful antique Union Jack No3 made by Hood Firearms in the mid to late 1870's and 80's. This is a 5 shot pocket pistol chambered in 32rf with factory engraving and Ivory or bone grip. The original finish has turned to a rather appealing patina. Comes with the display box. Originally purchased by me as a project, I have found that I have not been dedicating the rime to it and have decided to pass it on. I have shot it as seen in the videos but do not recommend it as a shooter without someone doing more tinkering. Mechanically the cylinder rotates but does not always lockup without help. Once locked up there is a little play but not severe. The trigger is really stiff and half cock doesn't work meaning you need to manually hold the hammer while loading and unloading. Cal. 30-06. Serial# 4798918. Bbl.24". Marked behind front sight "SC" with a flaming bomb and "10-43." Aperture rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Blade front sight. Swept bolt marked on top of handle "B2" and marking underneath appears as "F." Safety lug is Remington style, as is the bolt shroud. All stamped furniture, including large bow triggerguard and fine checkered trap buttplate. Walnut stock set with two recoil bolts. The grip is marked underneath with encircled "P" proof. Assembly marks are visible ahead of the trigger guard. CONDITION: stock set has a and bruises in its appearance commensurate with extensive service. There are numerous handling marks. The metal retains its original finish with some thinning and wear. Very good, shiny 4-groove bore. also comes with a leather combat sling. This is a correct WW Suhler Consortium M98 rifle. It is my opinion this rifle was reworked by the German military for use in WWII given the original WWII German armorers replacement. It is in original condition with all parts visible numbers matching. No import mark is present. Triggergaurd is unnumnered however it shows an Imperial H woth crown on the magazine floorplate. The magazine follower is an original German armorer Wafdenampt stamped replacement part. Buttplate is correctly unnumbered. Rating Definition: Excellent. Rifle retains 90-95 % crisp original finish. Stock: The walnut stock is correct and serialized 4473 to the rifle in good condition with a crack on the front left side between the upper barrel band and rear barrel band. Note: Stock pictures in listing show what looks like a crack in the mid area of the buttstock however there is no evidence of this on either the pistol grip side of the buttplate side where the stock is cracked whatsoever. Additional pics can be taken to show this. I hypothesize that this is perhaps a shrinkage in the wood due to rifles age. Rifle shows typical handling marks. No evidence of sanding. Bore: Bore is good with very pronounced lands and grooves visible. Rifle shows a great crown and has a smooth chamber. Mechanically sound, the rifle is in excellent condition. The action functions as it should.
