VKT (Valmet), or the State Rifle Factory became operational September 9, 1928. Since 1930 Valmet's factory rifle club was active as well, having their hand in the design of the Finnish Lion, together with Aimo Lahti, the chief designer. 2. The Finnish Lion has the longest manufacturing time of all Finnish guns, from 1930 to 1979. The word Paragon means, “a model of excellence”. And this is true of this optic series. I see the Paragon as being the technological descendant of the old Bellorussian PK-AS sight, a one power prism sight that through innovative use of lenses, seems to have a nearly non existent edge when you look through it. Thick opaque edges serve only to limit situational awareness. Competing brands and their prism sights are a miss due to large knobs… they are “good enough”. But the nearly invisible edge of the PK-AS and later on the Paragon discarded the idea that “good enough” was actually “good enough” in regards to situational awareness. Unlike the PK-AS, the Paragon is designed to be small and light.
