The nickel plating is intact with no flaking. The gun is marked "44" on the side. The cylinder shows the pre-1893 Belgian proof mark and post 1878 inspection marks. There are the initial "MV" stamped on the frame, which the mark of the foundry. The action is accurate and strong, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly without play. Selling/trading an Eduard Kettner 16 gauge over under. Overall it's in very nice shape. 28" vent rib barrels, 2 3/4" chambers, fixed improved cylinder/modified chokes, with ejectors. Bluing is in nice shape, shows some light fading/marks here or there - nothing too major. Receiver is in very nice shape with ornate scroll work covering it. Forestock has had one small hairline repaired, checkering shows wear. But stock is in nice shape, has more of a gloss finish, normal marks and dings. Bores are very nice. Founded in 1868 by the principals Charles Converse, Charles and Samuel Hopkins, and Charles Allen, the firm assumed the assets of the Bacon Manufacturing Company. H&A used Bacon's machinery and inventory of parts, and continued at first to make Bacon's various models before switching to cartridge revolvers and later rifles and shot guns. H&A was in business until 1915, and claimed to be the "largest manufacturers of high-grade, popular priced firearms in the world". Hopkins & Allen were well known for their pocket revolvers and Merwin & Hulbert branded large-frame revolvers. H&A are generally of a better quality and workmanship than other suicide specials.

The this one was checked and tested for smokeless powder by gunsmith and has NP proof mark. This one was professionally modified to accept 45auto rim and .45ACP cartridges on a moon clip and also can be used with original .455 Webley ammo. The gun is in like new condition with everything tight and working like a Swiss clock and plenty of the original blue remaining. The action is accurate strong and very smooth. The cylinder indexes and locks properly without any play. The bore of the 4-inch barrel is good and mirror bright, with sharp rifling. The grips are excellent and undamaged. Hey I have a beautiful and nice shape marlin 120mxr 40" barrel and regular sized barrel combo this is a very rare gun and it is in nice condition it does have some handling marks on it from being used and some spots that the Bluing has marks as well but nothing serious its not perfect but its better shape than 90% you will find im sure. This is a 2 3/4 and 3 inch gun that is known to be one of the smoothest shotguns ever made and everything works as it should this will make a amazing addition to any true marlin collection or a anti aircraft gun for geese.. $1200 shipped anywher in canada and please check out my other adds thanks
