Extremely rare Smith & Wesson No 3 chambered in 455 Eley with target sites and a 1-9/16 inch cylinder Was a special order. This revolver still retains about 75% of the original bluing it comes with a 7 1/2 inch barrel checkered walnut grips showing where but good condition no chips or cracks. The trigger set is amazing. This revolver is one of twelve ordered and shipped to Birmingham England in 1905, this revolver frame was produced prior to 1888 as documented and is considered an Antique status in Canada. Up for serious consideration, is a late 1800's Hammered 12 Guage Double Barrelled Shotgun. Manufactured by Claybrough and Johnstone, Price Street, Birmingham England sometime after 1868. The steel is Damascus finish with a 30 inch barrel. Calibre is 12 Guage 2.5 inches. I have never fired the gun. The inside of the barrell(s) are clean , with no pitting. The unit has tiny marks and scratches over its surface on both wood and metal. The one barrel has a tiny indent approximately 16 inches from the breach.It is slightly visible on the inside of the barrel. Each barrel has the numbers "293" stamped on them as well as the underside of the foregrip. The number "144" is stamped on the centre rib of the barrel underneath the foregrip. Both firing pins/hammers need a tiny adjustment. Hopefully the photos tell you the overall condition the gun is in. If you have any questions, please email me via this ad. The nickel plating is intact. Factory Engraved. The action is crisp and strong, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly and tightly. The bore of the 2 1/2 inch barrel is very good and bright with sharp rifling. The grips are very fine and undamaged. SN 13745, excellent overall. ​ History & Background Sullivan Forehand was an employee of Ethan Allen, the famous New England gunmaker. In 1860 he worked in an administrative capacity when he met his future wife - Allen's daughter - at work, and after marrying into the family became a partner in the business. Henry Wadsworth, an officer in the union army, met another of Allen's daughters while still in service during the war, and married into the family as well. Upon his discharge from the army, Wadsworth joined the company which was renamed "Ethan Allen & Co." After Allen's death in 1871, the two sons-in-law took over the firm and renamed it "Forehand & Wadsworth. They would become well known especially for their bulldogs, but also their many fine pocket and large-frame revolvers, single-shot deringers and pistols. Forehand & Wadsworth remained in business until 1890 when Henry Wadsworth retired and Sullivan renamed the company "Forehand Arms". After Sullivan's death in 1898 the company foundered and was taken over by Hopkins & Allen in 1902.
