Howdy Townpost! I have a truly amazing one of a kind piece here for sale. I bought this for myself in the US over a year ago and I had it professionally restored and fully repaired. I am now looking to sell it. John Forbes, of Liverpool, was gunmaker to His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, later King George IV. And according to my research made mostly dueling and target pistols, and some small pocket pistols for only 5 years. Those years being 1805-1810. He spelt his name with I or Iohn and later switched the spelling to a J or John based on public records and some of the other examples of his dueling pistols that have sold at auction. That makes this a very rare and finely made pistol. This pistol would have cost a small fortune at the time it was made. Oftentimes dueling pistols come in pairs but it was cheaper to buy just one if they were offered as a single, and should you encounter someone who has insulted your honor and you demand satisfaction from them, they can bring their own pistol to the duel. The engraving is extremely fine, intricate and skilled. It would have taken many dozens of hours to complete and it was all done by hand. The engraving features drums, banners and spears, floral patterns, sunbursts on the base plate and lock, and a pineapple in the front of the trigger guard, which symbolizes wealth and status. Because this gun is a percussion conversion of the original flintlock mechanism the percussion hammer is engraved in a different style by a different engraver in a more simple floral and fish mouth style of engraving with gold inlay. Every screw is engraved to look like a flower and the escutcheons are also each engraved like a wreath. Overall there is a lot of fine detail with some simpler and less detailed later additions on the percussion mechanism and one spot on the side plate. The gun features gold inlay on the hammer which largely worn away. There is silver inlay on the outside of the breach, and a sterling silver wreath styled band wrapped around the base of the grip and a sliver bead front sight. The ramrod tip (which is a replacement) is silver plated brass, so too are the front stock cap near the muzzle, the rod pipe, cross key, and escutcheon around it are too. The grip baseplate is silver plated steel. The workmanship of this pistol is certainly of a quality of gunmaker worthy enough of being the gun maker of the Prince of Wales. For sale is my a mechanically great, all matching, 1880 production short barrel "Shopkeeper" Colt Thunderer in .41 LC. Selling because cash is tight. As an Antique, this handgun is exempt from Canadian licensing and registration requirements, and can be used anywhere a nonrestricted firearm would be legal. Black powder or light load smokeless .41 Long Colt rounds can be purchased online or worked into deal. The 1877 line of revolvers was Colt's first double action model ever produced. They made almost 170,000 from 1877 to 1909 with three main designations: the Colt "Lightning" in .38 LC, the "Thunderer" in .41 LC, and the "Rainmaker" in .32. However, due to Canada's laws, only the .41 caliber ones are designated as "antique". This is luckily one of those guns, and it needs no registration or licensing to own. These models are highly collectible handguns, particularly the short barrelled "Shopkeeper" model due to its easy to stow nature. Arizona Wild West gunslinger Doc Holiday carried one of these. This particular example, SN 22261, was produced rather early in 1880 and has a short but accurate 3.5" barrel. All parts match, and the exterior retains an excellent 85% of the original nickel. The internal mechanics are incredibly clean and original. The bore is fair with strong defined rifling. Grips are nice like-new repros with rampaging Colt medallions. All hammer clicks are present, lockup is rock solid, and the trigger pull is pleasant in both SA and DA. The barrel is stamped with the Hartford Connecticut Colt address and the acid etched "COLT D.A. 41" is still visible. The left side of the frame displays the 3 line 1871, 1874, and 1875 patents. It reads "41 CAL" on the trigger guard. *Sold* Parting with my Colt 1878 revolver. She's single and double action, chambered in .476 Eley which is interchangeable with .455 Webley. These revolvers were most commonly chambered in .44-40 Winchester and dubbed the "Frontier Model", with the .476 chambering being very scarce. They were introduced in 1878 as a larger frame, larger caliber twist on the new Colt 1877 Thunderer/Lightning model, filling a niche most similar to the 1873 Single Action Army, but this time in double action as well. Selling to clear up some moolah for car repairs. Pre-1898 Canada legal antique. This revolver was made in 1885. It has the desirable Pall Mall one line address on the barrel reading "COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. DEPOT 14. PALL MALL LONDON" with most words still visible. This address is a rarity and was only put on guns intended for the European markets. Serials match 15xxx, with the last 3 digits stamped on the cylinder. The loading gate is a replacement. This gorgeous revolver has an extremely nice black finish with shiny nickeled highlights on the hammer, trigger, and hammer screw. The visual condition speaks for itself. A stunning piece sure to catch eyes, and assurance that the metal will remain protected. The rifling is still strong and defined, showing some scattered frosting. The grips appear original, and are sturdy with minor holster wear on the high points from time on the hip. The action is great. The internals are shiny in factory condition. The cylinder locks up airtight at firing position. I have never seen an 1878 or 1877 with tighter lockup. In the unique fashion of the 1878 model design, this revolver has no cylinder stop allowing slight backrotation when you disengage the action, but it still generally cycles. The loading gate is a bit wobbly, contributing to backrotation. It weighs 5 ounces/141g. The AK Master Mount™ patented optic mounts are unique and purpose built products for serious users. They are built as rugged as the rifle itself. It's low profile with a low axis over bore. It also has a unique quick release "Dual Axis Locking" lever and a “2 in 1” top rail design that can accommodate picatinny or ACOG based optics. Made in the USA. Dual-Axis Locking AK optic mounts secure to an AK receiver’s side rail by one of two main methods. The first method uses a rotating lever that has a contoured portion to rotate and lock into a corresponding cut-out in the side rail. Many of the traditional com-bloc optic mounts utilized this design and are broadly referred to as SVD styled mounts. This method is primarily securing the optic mount in the horizontal axis. The second method utilizes a rotating lever to deform the bottom part of the mount to “crimp” onto the side rail. These mounts are not really quick release despite their labeling as such, and this mount deformation makes it difficult to resize the mount to a different side rail on a different rifle. The more modern approach to this method is to use the rotating lever to manipulate a spring loaded clamping bar to compress against the receiver’s side rail to make it quick release capable. These style mounts are prone to “walking” along the side rail with heavy shooting sessions as they only secure the optic mount in the vertical axis. These two techniques have been combined in a patented design to firmly secure our optic mount to an AK’s side rail in both the vertical and horizontal axis to make it Dual Axis Locking. This secure attachment maintains optics zero even with sustained heavy shooting sessions. The clamping bar is also longer than the other optics mounts on the market to provide additional clamping surface contact, and two springs are used in the clamping bar mechanism for increased clamping bar stability and true quick release capability. Low Axis Over Bore The optic mount's low profile hugs the side of the AK receiver and the dust cover to deliver a low axis over bore placement. This allows simultaneous use of the rifle's iron sights if needed. The 12 sided proprietary locking bolt provides for a greater clamping bar tension range, twice that of most optic mounts on the market. This allows for true fine tuning of the clamping bar’s clamping force, and it also ensures proper fitting on side rails of slightly different dimensions on different rifles. Optics zero is maintained. Built Rugged As the AK Itself The optic mounts are machined from a solid block of 6061-T6 aluminum to achieve superior strength, but yet be weight conscious. Its one piece design keeps things simple, maintains structural integrity, and avoids fastener failures or movement that can occur in two piece optic mounts. Likewise the optic mounts were intentionally overbuilt with heavy duty struts to reliably support its integral 2-in-1Picatinny / ACOG rail and any attached optics. Its robust struts then pleasantly blend into the body of the mount which is also rugged enough to withstand whatever abuses are thrown at it. Despite the mounts ruggedness, the edges been rounded and contoured to make it egronomic, snag free and good looking. No wimpy levers here. The throw lever is also heavy duty and is fully inset into the body of the mount to protect it from any snags and accidental release. Accessory Side Rail Built into the struts supporting the top rail are cut-outs that allow for the use of optional Accessory Side Rails. These offset rails allow for use of additional sighting solutions and accessories.
