Howdy Townpost! I've got an Italian jewel for you to take a look at here. This is an Italian Bodeo model 1889. These guns are among my favorite antique revolvers. They are a very simple rugged and easy to maintain and repair Military revolvers with one of the coolest safety/loading systems as part of its design. These revolvers are very well designed, and feature the safety, loading/unloading system called the "Abadie System". This system was designed in Portugal, but many European late 19th century designs incorporated it. This particular example is an 1897 production by Glisenti at Brescia. Glisenti made Bodeos from 1891 to 1906. This is considered a tipo (type) A or an enlisted model. The type A had a folding trigger which was considered safer and was issued to enlisted men and the type B was the officer's model and had a trigger guard. This particular gun is considered a late model because it has an internal hammer block safety, which is dovetailed into the hand (pictured). The early model had a external hammer block safety that was prone to breakage. I've personally seen multiple antique examples with broken external hammer block safeties. So it was a good move from a design standpoint to change. The early models also were finished in the white in a similar manner to the French model 1873 Chamelot-Delvignes were. This example is of course blued like the overwhelming majority of the late models. This revolver is in excellent condition mechanically and has minimal wear overall. The grips are in excellent condition and we're refinished professionally. The chambres and bore are in excellent & minty condition as well. And the bore itself is one of the best I've ever seen on a Bodeo, with clean, sharp and shiny lands and grooves. This revolver chambres the 10.35mm Italian ordinance cartridge. This cartridge is very similar to .44 Russian but has a smaller diameter bullet (.422) and a slightly tapered chambre. I have seen these shot with .44-40 bullets that are .427 in diameter. These revolvers were loaded with smokeless from the get-go in 1890 using ballastite, a smokeless propellant. For an additional fee on top of the price I can have the chambres slightly reamed so that they will accept .44 Russian cartridges. That way you can buy an off-the-shelf ammunition without the need to hand load. However these are quite easy to hand load and source components for. Webley & Sons circa 1896 chambered in .476 Eley and .455 Webley, and sold by the famed John Rigby & Co. in London. Established in 1775, John Rigby & Co remains to this day a staple of the fine firearms market. Their role in this piece's history adds even further to collector value. These revolvers were very popular private purchases among sportsmen and higher ranking officers around the turn of the 20th century up through WW1 as reliable, accurate, and elegant handguns. With an impressive 6" barrel and mirror-bore rifling, this is a collector's or target shooter's dream. I can add a box of 50 factory new Fiocchi Heritage .455 Webley rounds with purchase of the revolver if you have a PAL. If you don't want these rounds, take $100 off asking price. As a pre-1898 antique, this can be owned and used without any registration or headaches. Visually this revolver retains most of its original shiny dark blue finish with scattered minor loss from 130 years living. The trigger, hammer, ejector, cylinder release mechanism, and hinge screw have a shiny silver "in the white" finish giving a proud and bold contrast. The original checkered square bottom hardwood grips are solid, showing some minor dings and a tiny chip on the right. Sharply stamped "WG Army Model" on the top strap with calibers ".455/.476" Webley and Eley, and the W&S winged bullet logo on the left of the frame. This is a Tranter Model 1863 Single Action Revolver Chambered in .455 centre fire. The majority of the model 1863’s were a double action with only a few hundred being produced in single action. Approximate serial number range for the single actions are between 4000 to 4500. This item being serial number 4010 would make it one of the first to be made of this model. The single actions were mostly produced in .442 rimfire, it is not known how many were produced in centre fire making this even more rare. This item has a 6-1/2” barrel with Cogswell & Harrison London retailer address engraved into it. Birmingham proof marks can be found on the barrel and frame. The firearm retains around 85% of the original finish. The checkered walnut grips are in excellent condition with a few very light dings. Mechanically it is in excellent condition and functions as it should. This is a very attractive English revolver that would fit well with any antique collection. this is an antique to no PAL is required for purchase. Buyer must be 18 or older and able to prove it. This is an Antique Harpers Ferry U.S. Model 1842 Smoothbore Percussion Musket. The overall length is 57-3/4” with a 42” long barrel and coming in at just under 10 pounds. This is a .69 caliber musket. These were designed in 1842 and were produced from 1844 to 1855, with this one being made in 1849. There is a partially visible eagle over US forward of the hammer. Rear of the hammer is the markings HARPERS FERRY 1849. Inspection marks can be found on the barrel near the breech and on the trigger guard. Overall condition is very good with a low amount of handling dings and a small crack in the wood by the butt plate. Mechanically in excellent condition with a strong action. The Model 1842 was the first U.S. musket to be produced with a percussion lock. It had an effective range of 100-300 yards and a maximum range of 400 yards. The 1842 was the last U.S. regulation .69 caliber musket. Many of these muskets later had the bores rifled and saw service in the American Civil War. This would make a great addition to any antique collection of would even be suited as a stand alone piece. This is an antique so no PAL is required for purchase. Purchased new in 2014 and shot 40 times cleaned and left in storage since. While hunting the back nipple that holds the shoulder strap broke. The bolt was lost during storage and the one seen in the picture is from a 710 Remington 30-06 this 30-06 is a Remington Model 770.
